The game was fun to watch! (it's always good to beat the Heat even in Summer league)

- Mike Moser was great. (did not know him)
- Phil Pressey's defense was impressive
- Kelly Olynyk is a great all around player
- Marcus Smart is a tough guy and fun to watch
- I hope Colton Iverson keeps getting better in training camp because we need a legit center
- Chris & Chris had oke games but i expected more

Yep, CI looked very active, and Moser and Bertrans looked good as the outside guys trying to make an impression.

Smart - First half looked like he didn't belong in the NBA on either end of the court. Second half showed some signs. Definitely looks like he needs a lot of work on his shot. Going to be a scorer versus a good shooter most likely. Looks very slow out there though with suspect handles. Not sure if he really has NBA PG ability yet.

Olynyk - Solid. Looks like he has and should get even better. Definitely a PF more than a center though.

Iverson - If the guy boxed out he could be a backup in the NBA right now. Doesn't rebound well due to this and therefore will be overseas another year. Got eaten up on the offensive boards because he can't rebound well.

Pressey - This kid is awful. Out of control just like last season. How many times does he fall down because he is losing the ball in the lane. Very streaky shooter. Pest on defense, but too small to really do anything. The trap kills him because of his size. Time to move on. He's a third string PG at best.

Johnson - Horrible game. Not sure this guy makes the team. Hustle can't overcome no NBA skills.

Bertans - I'd give him Pressey's spot on the roster right now. Good solid player.

Moser - Great game. Good skills. Give him Johnsons spot right now.

Babb - If he makes the team it is because we didn't do a good enough job finding better options. No NBA level skills.

All in all there are only 3-4 guys on this roster that should be on the regular season team. I wish we had found that Ennis kid. Nice find by Riley.

Colton...keep or send overseas again?

Too early to say

My one-game answer is 'keep him'.

Next game I'd like to see Bertans take a shot at running the point, see if his handle is good enough to run the team.

I was really impressed with him.  He wasn't flashy but made the right play seemingly every time he was near the ball.  Very unselfish and just moved the ball to the next player, almost San Antonio like.  He also had one three that was almost down and spun out, so his shot was right there.  His defense was also solid, that #50 guy from the Heat blew by him once but that dude was really quick and Bertans was closing out hard.

I wasn't as impressed with Olynyk as others seem to have been.  He seemed pretty slow going for loose balls and didn't do well rebounding in traffic.  Second year players usually are pretty dominant, look at Plumlee in the first game.

Smart's defense was really good.  Lots of deflections and quick hands.  After his first two jittery free throws, KO was the same last year, Smart settled in and started knocking them down.

I also was down on Pressey.  Way too out of control.

@Pressey - I tend to disagree with the majority here on his offense. I think he did an ok job, ran the pick and roll better than Smart and made faster decisions with the ball. Cut on the TOs and that's a good offensive game.

Defensively, what more can you ask? Napier is a 4-years player who is supposed to be the real deal, NBA-ready point guard and Phil ate him alive on BOTH ends of the floor.

@Smart - Impacted the game in many ways, great team player. Loved him. Leaned backwards a lot on his jumpshots.

@Colton - with no traditional big men to guard - his supposedly specialty, still played great.

@ Bertrans - good game offensively, but man was he lost on D. Lots of times his man drove right by him, missed rotations. I cannot see him getting Johnson's or Babb's job with that D.

My one game answer would be let him go.  He just wasn't good enough defensively to make up for his lack of offensive skills and he doesn't finish with authority around the rim.  If he were blocking shots and dominating the boards then I'd think about it, but I didn't see much defensively or in dominating the boards.

He was solid, but solid in the Summer League when you are a second year pro doesn't cut it.  I think that guy Dontay Green from the Nets team was way more impressive.

After researching Greene, no wonder he was impressive, he has 4 years NBA experience.  Good handles and shot though for a 6'11" guy.

Yeah, let him go! Cause we have plenty of those Centers on the roster. Bring Donte Greene! We need a PF badly!

one game folks, it is only one game and a game with mix and match line ups.

before removing or anointing players lets enjoy watching them over a few more games and see if today was representative of their abilities or not.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

is there anywhere to watch a replay of the game?  I overslept.

Saw the stats though.  Looks like Smart should be a solid backup next year.

We did not watch the same player. Smart looked like a defensive stud for every minute he was on the court so I have no idea how he seemed like he didn't belong in the first half. He struggled off the ball, but any time he played PG, he made great decisions with the ball. Good to see.

He's never going to be the kind of player to have fancy handles, but his handles are good, and it will be tough to knock him off the ball with his strength.

There is a replay of the game at 8 PM on CSN I believe.

You are worried about an inch?  Greene was every bit as tall as Plumlee and a lot thicker.  I personally think he could do everything Iverson could do better than Iverson, and a ton of stuff Iverson can't.  But hey, I'll put you in charge of the "bring back Fab Melo" club because we need a guy who can be a center and nothing else.

This.

When Pressey went off and Smart took over in the first half the team got better on both ends. Smart went off and the team slumped a bit which gave the Heat a lead at the end. They fixed the rotation a bit in the second and it was better.

He looked a bit tentative in the beginning, but when he needed to, he stepped up with a couple big shots. That 15-18 footer he hit a couple times I think will be key to his game. I'll be happy if he hits that shot with regularity, and be less worried about his 3 point shot this season.

I have a feeling the next game he will play better. Get the first game gitters, with the coaches and GMs watching every move out of the way.

We still haven't seen Young yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing this kid play.

I too liked what I saw out of Bertans.  Nice shooting touch, and if like you said, he had decent enough handles to run the point a bit, or at least play through him the guy could be a lot more valuable.  He seemed to play very under control.
