Would rather have Gortat or Monroe.
Given that both of them ask more than $10 million a year -- no, you wouldn't :P

I think both guys are worth over 10 mil for what they provide.

I mean Rudy Gay is making 19 mil this year.

Doesn't mean he's worth it.

I'd rather take a chance on a young guy who we could get for cheap than blowing money on a luxury like a legit center who doesn't fit into our rebuilding plan at all.

I would say a legit center is more of a need than a luxury.

I'll pay Gortat and Monroe 10 mil instantly in a HEARTBEAT...half the people on this thread wanted Asik...and Asik is worth just as much

and we still have a TPE

Yup.

Ainge better move on that though, because the TPE expires on July 12th (per Chris Forsberg)

I like this but I bet there will be a bidding war.. his last contract was 2yr/8 mil so you can expect up to 8 mil a year... however he averaged 9.7 and 7.5 in only 20 min per game ... those numbers are out of the water!! Anyone know why he plays so few minutes.. He started roughly half the games this year..

Ideal starting center for this team. Good enough to make for not-ugly basketball, not good enough to win us many additional games.

Would be very happy if the price is right. Don't want to tie up too much money going forward on a stopgap solution.

Agreed. At this point, Hill would provide us temporary center spot stability. In result, Sully and KO can play more at their true position (power forward) while developing the proper way.  He's not worth over paying though

The Lakers were tanking last year.

If Boston is resigning Rondo, they won't have any major salary cap room until 2 seasons from now.  A Boston team with Gortat or Monroe is much more attractive for any free agents and that's one less spot you have to give up draft picks/tradeable players to fill.

On the other hand, if you can get Jordan Hill for about half what those guys will demand, that might be a more attractive option.

Why not actually?  These 2 are some of the best centers in the league. Ill personally rather have gortat since i been following his progress since his backup days in Orlando. The opportunity for a center to put up 20+ any given night while being a efficient rebound and rim protector???? Pleaseeee let me know where your going to find that under 10 mill? Hawes is the closest bet asking for 8 mil leven then , I'll pay the extra 2 to have Gortat. Your obviously down for the tank!

Right now, we don't "need" anything besides young guys, picks, and cap space. Settle in, brother.
While this is true, I think that having a balanced roster increases our to develop our assets. If you add a true five, maybe Sullinger and Olynyk don't have to guard 5's that often, which improves their production and thus their trade value.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I agree with Monroe... disagree with Gortat
not only is he older by half a decade to jordan hill, but their production per 36 minutes for last year are pretty similar. Jordan just fit terribly into D'antoni system and got barely 20 mpg. So i say go cheaper and younger.

Jordan Hill
16.7pts, 12.8rbs,1.5blks

Gortat
14.5pts, 10.4rbs, 1.2blks

I agree, and I think Hill fixes that problem without compromising our rebuild.

Just a perfect move.

Reason : lakers drafted randle and are interested in keeping gasol to start at center. Hill wants to start/play as many min possible

Celtics will offer him this opportunity and offer a 2-3 year deal at 6 or 7 million a year imo.

Jordan hill played on a team which was tanking that had no good players at all to score. Plus PAu was injured half the time. Gortat got his #'s on a playoff worth team playing with Wall, Beal, Ariza, and Nene in front of him on the scoring spectrum. Gortat is proven against opposing top talent bigs.  Hill's #'s are half the time late garbage stats.

Gortat is also a wayy better rim protector than Monroe. By far

Can't wait to see Gerald Wallace out of Boston. The Nets' trash they sent over needs to go. Bogans, Humphries and Wallace can't get out of town soon enough

Definitely agreed, If the price is super low. I like Hump as a rebounding backup. The energy he brings helps a team imo.

Wallace on the other hand.....  WE SHOULD TELL CHARLOTTE "HE STILL GOT IT" SEE IF THEY GIVE US BIG AL!!! J/P!!!

Humphries played well for us.
He was the 11th ranked center in PER.

According to SynergySports stats, Hill's a better offensive player than Gortat. There is not much difference defensively between the two and they're both below average. I've heard Gortat described as a rim protector more than once by Celticbloggers and it's not true. He's a big who can score down low, but provides Euro-defense.

Not overwhelmed by either, but there's not much out there and surprisingly, by points per possession stats, they're both better offensively than Monroe and all three are on a par defensively and all not very good.
