It'll work.
There, short and sweet.
It will if rondo respects smarts capabilities. Rondo has to get back to doing other things on the court other than boss everyone else around.
It works fine enough with Bradley, and Smart can do pretty much all Bradley can and then some. So you're exaggerating the problem.
Bradley can't dribble but can catch-and-shoot. Smart can dribble but can't shoot. The two players have very little in common.
You forget how terrible Bradley was shooting for us, yet it worked... in part as being a very good slasher, and provided excellent defense (he improved later on).
I have no doubt that Smart will show he can shoot better, than he has shown, playing off ball with Rondo... but with the added advantage of him being able to handle the ball himself, and allowing Rondo himself to play a bit off ball, something I've been calling for. Plus, the defense will be there.
So I think the lack of shooting as a problem is not much of an issue in my opinion.
