Another proposed part of the Knicks-Mavericks deal, source tells Yahoo: Dallas would send 34th overall pick to New York.

Hey, that's ours!

it's going to be fun watching Phil Jackson fail.

I'm just more interested in his vision for the future.

The trade is expected to cost Dallas two starters -- point guard Jose Calderon and center Samuel Dalembert -- along with prized young point guard Shane Larkin, reserve guard Wayne Ellington and future second-round draft compensation.

Anyone else think the Knicks finally might have won a trade? Not by much but Larkin/34 is decent value if you're otherwise essentially swapping bloated contracts (and by the way, NYK got out of the biggest contract involved in this deal).

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

This is about Dallas going after melo. A couple of his NYC buddies just went to team up with dirk and monta on a team that took the spurs to 7.

The deal leaves Dallas with $33m in cap room, not counting Dirk's cap hold. Depending on Dirk contract, Mavs could have max slot.

Very interesting.

Did Melo enjoy playing with Felton and Chandler? Or would those two discourage a reunion in Dallas?

I think Chandler & Melo got along, not clear on his relationship with Felton. I'm not even entirely sure they keep Felton - can they use the stretch provision on him? A core of Tyson/Dirk/Ellis has got to be intriguing to Melo; not the youngest core, but a ton of experience and championship pedigree. I'd say Chicago is still the favorite to sign him, but Dallas has leapfrogged Houston for the 2nd favorite, IMO.

Is Dallas now the Melo destination?

Tyson Chandler will be back to Dallas is very interesting. I loved what he brought there in their championship run. Obviously not the same player anymore, but the impact might still be there.

I'm hearing the Knicks are trying to move Dalembert and Larkin in a separate deal, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Hey, that's ours!

That's the spirit! The NY Knicks would get an actual draft pick instead of trading one away! Go Knicks?  ;D

I don't see how Houston isn't number one. Dwight harden and parson is a better supporting cast for melo then what the bulls or mavs can offer.

Agreed.

Dirk's old age puts Dallas firmly in the darkhorse category.

Houston and Chicago are the frontrunners.
