Stop fantasizing about Parker.  I don't want him

Wow...since when did my fantasies have such profound impact on your life that I needed to take your opinion into account while fantasizing?  ::)

Parker is Paul Pierce.  He'd be a huge get.

Kings ( I live close to Sacramento but am a Celtic Fan) are opening a new stadium in 2016.  A playoff birth and a nucleus which might then attract other players in the future would be an excellent accomplishment for them.  The owners said they would be aggressive when trading for Gay, and then putting on a major effort to recruit him to stay (rally/viewing the plans for the new stadium/positive comments about future going forward).  If the Kings can, they will trade the number eight.  Wondering if the rumor for Josh Smith, is part of the selling point for Rondo, beyond Smith as a player.

So if those players get traded for Smith, what would the Celtics get for Rondo?

Rak

mclemore, #8 , filler(landry, outlaw)

I am not opposed to trading Rondo but I would hope that we would get more in return than that mess.  Maybe another future 1st rounder?  Landry and Outlaw are putrid.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

This worked on the trade machine:
Rondo for McLemore, Landry, ITHOMAS...add in #8 and a future pick and I would do it.

Trade Machine shouldn't list Thomas as trade eligible, because he is going to be a restricted free agent.

My guess: Sacramento thought it could save the #8 to entice Boston into a Rondo deal, and Detroit wouldn't accept what the Kings were offering without that #8.

If it was JT and Williams or Landry or Terry, none of that helps Detroit roster-wise, not a whole lot on the books either.

I suspect that if/when Boston rebuffs the Kings' renewed offer for Rondo, they will go back to the Pistons and agree to a Smith deal that sends #8 to Detroit.

Nice try by Sacramento at any rate.  It worked for them with Gay, getting a good player on an overpriced contract for a collection of spare parts on smaller contracts -- worth trying to see if it would work again with Smith.

Yeah.

Frankly, I'm really happy that Sacto has gone from a sad-sack, cost-cutting franchise to a forward-thinking, aggressive one. Good for the league to have a small-market team that thinks big.

boston will receive #7 #8 and nash for rondo and maybe the #17, sacramento sends maclemore and filler to L.A. along with 17th, rondo to sacramento.

I would pay him anywhere in between $4.5-6m to make salaries match in the deal rather than have to take back another horrible contract like Derrick Williams or Landry... And he would be a pretty good Pg of the bench (sort of like nate robinson) if we get smart or Exum in the draft...

I think he can get around $7-$8m in free agency,
I doubt it but its possible so then offer him $6.5-7m max but id def want him as part of any Rondo trade to fill an obvious weakness at PG.. Id also strongly consider Payton at #8 if Smart and Exum r off the board..

I think that's wishful thinking - if Jeff Teague and Brandon Jennings can get $8m per, I think IT at least gets in into the $7m range. And I also think he's going to look for an opportunity to be a full-time starter. Yes, he's a restricted free agent but you still need his cooperation in any sign & trade.
1. jeff teague deserves every penny of that $8m/yr deal and Jennings deserved it when he sogned the deal but hes dipped off form...
2. Isaiah thomas could well be looking for a starting job but he isnt sniffing anything beyond $7m imo..

Why would LA trade the #7 and Nash for someone who can't help them win now?

Also, did you drop the Nef from your name when I wasn't looking?

Interesting.  It seemed as though Detroit was making the trade for what they were getting rid of more than what they were getting.  So how about something that is built around this concept (I recognize that this is not a complete trade):

We trade Bass and Bogans and to Detroit for Smith.

We then trade Smith and Rondo to Sacramento for Thompson, Terry, Williams, McLemore, #8, and ......

If Detroit thinks they are going to get something actually good for Smith, they are nuts.  This deal will clear salary for them to sign Monroe and then they can run Bass at PF.  If they want, they can have Derrick Williams out of the deal too.  Maybe Sac gives us a 2017 first as well.

Also keep in mind that this assumes we are out of the Love, LeBron, and Carmelo running and based on that I think it is highly likely that we lose Rondo to FA after another bad season.  This deal loads us up with a promising prospect (McLemore), a very good draft pick, a really tall guy, and an underachiever plus maybe some other things from Sac.

Golly. Detroit should have jumped at the opportunity to dump that contract instead of haggling for a better deal.

At the moment, the most exciting scenario for me would be trading Rondo for #8 + McLemore... and then somehow managing to move #6 + #17 to get Embiid.

Second most exciting scenario:  Kevin Love.
