I'll take Gordon & McDermott over him.

I think the opinion of "If the doctors clear him, I'd pick him" are a little misguided. He'd only be available if five other teams of doctors with millions of dollars and in some cases maybe their careers riding on this draft were to pass on him. If he clears or is close to checking out, he's the number one pick. If the Cs pick him it will be a HUGE gamble. So if he's healthy in any way, he's not available, and if he's not, we won't want to pick him.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

If we could just draft Kevin Love and pay him 4 million a year I'd probably take Love, but that is not the equation by any means.

And yes, Embiid could be the better player of the two in three years, if you don't rely only on fantasy league stats.

We don't have three years.

If DA abandons the plan to try to contend, I don't think Rondo will be very happy. So, we lose Rondo and now all we have is a rookie with a bad back and broken foot

The opportunity cost is not the same for someone picking 6th in the draft as someone picking prior to them.

You think we're winning a championship with Rondo and Love and Gerald Wallace's 10x2 contract?

No. But I'm sure Rondo would be happier with Love than Embiid. Let me simplify

Love = sure thing.
Embiid = unknown. Broke his foot and has a messed up back.

Love gives us a better chance than Embiid.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

We already have two solid PFs in Sully and Olynyk.

We don't have a single center that could cover up Love's poor defense.

Sully + Embiid is a pretty good front line.

Love + KO/Fav is not.

Let me guess, we're then going to trade for Asik, and then we're going to trade for Melo, and then we'll upgrade Bradley to Lance Stephenson and then we'll live happily ever after.

They're solid, but they are not the best PF in the game. Love is.

And yeah... that's the plan. Don't act like DA is only going to trade for Love and that's it. He will obviously make other trades.

Love is not the best pf in the league. You serious?

There is not much "power" to his game on both ends. Love is more like a stretch 4

Love is more than a stretch four. he also has alot of post moves. who is better than love as a PF? Maybe Lemarcus aldridge but I cant name too many PF out there who average 25ppg, 12rpg

Greg Oden/Sam Bowie all over again.  Cavs will probably still take him #1 and then for years people will be saying, "how could you take embiid over Wiggins/Parker/Exum knowing he was hurt?  What the heck were they thinking?"

So Orlando would have Vucevic and Embiid?
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Pretty much what I've been trying to say.  However, evidently, we're the only ones who have a competent medical staff in the NBA.   Because, you know, Sully.

This is bad news if you're a Smart fan. The odds of him being at 6 now is much lower if Orlando sticks with their plan to take a PG/G.

1. Cleveland - Wiggins
2. Milwaukee - Parker
3. Philly - Exum
4. Orlando - Smart
5. Utah - Embiid, Vonleh, or Gordon.
6. Boston - ???

Boston gives 6 and 17 for the 5th pick and takes Embiid!! No brainer!!
