Deja vu all over again
True, but to be fair, he spent a lot of time on the couch recuperating from back surgery.
Marquis and Pietrus spent a lot of time in hospital nursing a spinal injury and a significant concussion that left them both carried out on stretchers.
They still came back to Boston in great shape.
The injury is not an excuse. I've known very few NBA players who have missed significant time due to injuries, and then came back in very poor condition. Most players who were in poor condition after an injury were already in questionable shape before the injury - Sully is one such example.
I don't expect silly to come back looking like Hump or Brandon Bass, but if he can at least come back looking like Paul Pierce from 5 years ago I'll be impressed. Oh, and if he stops bricking ill advised three point shots.
Sully is always going to be a solid contributer on any team because he's just too intelligent and skilled not to be. But if he doesn't improve his mobility / agility and his conditioning then hes going to limit himself to a ceiling of a nice role player or a good sixth man. Hes not going to be a major impact player on a team until he can get himself in professorship shape. This is not college where most bigs are 220lbs, and he can just use his weight to go straight through opponents. This is the Nba. If he doesn't come back in better shape this season, iv hope Danny can ship him out for a value big who will. Maybe send him out for Josh Smith or on a package for Gortat.
Hes no use to Boston of he's always in foul trouble and doesn't have the conditioning to finish games.
