My thinking is that if Orlando still views Smart as their top choice like they did last year and the Cavs pass on Embiid then it all falls on Philly. If Philly selects one then there is a good chance the other falls. I do believe for what it's worth that Cleveland will pass of Embiid and grab Wiggins. Parker goes to Milwaukee at 2 because they do have Sanders and could use a scorer. Celtics could very realistically end up with Exum or Embiid.

Does Draft Express do their mock drafts based on who they think teams will take or who they think teams should take?

Check out some of DX's mocks in the past if you don't think they're legit. For instance check the 2009 one where they had Steph Curry going 5 to the TWolves. A lot of other mocks had him at 8 to the Knicks. There may be some misses, but they have some hits too.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Could this be the start of a slide down the drafts and maybe the real draft for Exum? He's gotten to stay this far up in the drafts because of the hype and the unknown. I wonder as he gets worked out here more and more and people get wind of the workouts if his stock will plummet.

Someone plummets in the draft every year. Wonder if he will be this year's player to have a precipitous slide down the draft ladder.

I was thinking along similar lines.  I really see Cleveland taking Wiggins as more of a sure-bet over Embiid but I do think Milwaukee snaps up Embiid and trades Sanders for another starting-quality player or picks.  Embiid doesn't come with the headaches or the big contract and that team isn't going anywhere for a few years.  why pay Sanders when they won't be contending for a playoff spot.

Philly snags Parker.  If Orlando takes Smart over Exum because they're more familiar with him and think he's less of a risky pick, I could sort of see that happening but still find it doubtful.  if that happens and Exum falls to Utah, I really can't see them passing on him.  He's projected to be much better than Burke.  I think they could use Vonleh next to Favors and ship out Kanter for another good prospect or a vet SF that can help guide the team but I really think Exum is snagged here if he falls this far.

Should by miracle of miracles he get to #6, C's grab him and giggle hysterically.  personally, I'd use him as a major trade piece to get Love.  would really cut down on what else has to go to Minny.  I'd limit it to Exum, Sully, contract-salary filler and maybe the Philly pick.  Having one of the projected 4 stars of this draft to send Minny for their next 'cornerstone' player would make a large difference in what it would take to get him.

Could be that.  Could be the alternative.  Marcus Smart, for instance, started out the year in discussion at the top of the class.  He struggled occasionally during the season, and had a couple of well-publicized meltdowns, which caused him to slide, even as far down as the 8-10 range in some mid-season mocks.  Now he's out there working out for teams, and it sounds like he's impressing again.

Accordingly, maybe opinions haven't changed on Exum, but they've changed on players like Smart or Vonleh, which affects Exum's draft stock, but not the perception of him overall.

Not saying that one or the other is true -- Just saying there are multiple potential causes for a player's draft stock to change.

Interesting video.  I watched it without sound and it just seemed like he was an awkward, slow-moving kid playing against 12 year old white children.

Also can't tell if a player can shoot or not from a highlight video... they don't show the bricks.

He's looking a lot stronger than last year in his upper body, which might slow down his lethal first step a bit, carrying the extra weight. Still excellent quickness for a 2 guard, and incredible length for either guard spot.

- Don't know if Exum's slipping.  He could go before ORL.  ORL really liked Smart last year before he went back to school.  Steve Kyler said in his chat today, that there's a lot more info available to NBA execs than we think on Exum, that he's played against good competition and that he's seen 6 of his games himself.  I had been thinking he was maybe an overhyped player who might slip.  Now, I'm thinking he's not that unknown to the NBA scouts, even if he does slip to us.  During the coverage at the combine (ESPN IIRC) every single guy on the panel thought Exum would be the best PG 5 years down the road.

- Don't know who Ford's talking to, but unlikely UTA. Notoriously tight-lipped organization unlike others (Danny says a lot apparently, but none of it is to be trusted).  Ford has also watched Vonleh in a work-out soon after the combine and was very impressed with him and that was before the latest workouts.

- Utah can go after a PF or a PG to form a trio rotation in the backcourt or front court, so they could scoop up Exum easily enough.  From reading some threads in a UTA forum a while back, the fans seemed to prefer strengthening the backcourt, but like I said, no one knows what UTA thinks, even Ford.

- Would improve our offer to TWolves and I would still take Love.

Draftexpress does an outstanding job with their scouting reports, not so much their mock drafts.

A few issues I have with this update...

1. No way Exum falls to the Celtics. Even if Orlando opts to take Smart, Utah will scoop him up with the 5th.

2. Nik Stauskas is a good player, but has no business being in the top 10 in such a deep draft.

3. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around Kristaps Porzingi's going 15th. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but he seems pretty underwhelming to me.

4. 20 is way too low for TJ Warren

5. 23 is way too low for Kyle Anderson. IF Anderson AND Warren are on the board when we pick, I'd be ecstatic and shocked.

your observations other than Porzingis are spot on.  Almost every mock draft has Porzingis stock rising faster than any other player due to his skill set, size, youth, huge upside.  He will be dratted before 17.

if we land exum. i'd seriously have to reconsider trading for Love. unless we could do both.

So would Danny. In fact, if we can land Exum, look for the Rondo trade rumors to escalate.

Which would be unfortunate.  I'd really like to see a Rondo/Exum/Bradley backcourt rotatation.  More than enough minutes to go around.
