Just for fun

2001 draft....forfeited 18th pick....players still on board then....Zach Randolph, Jamaal Tinsley, Tony Parker, Gerald Wallace, Samuel Dalembert, Mehmet Okur, Gilbert Arenas

2002...forfeited 24th....Nene Krstic, John Salmons, Boozer, Matt Barnes, Darius Songalia....and to make matters more funny Luis Scola was still on the board when they drafted Marcus Taylor in the 2nd round. Instead he went to the Spurs

2004....forfeited 29th ...Anderson Varajao, Chris Duhon

The list of players they did pick when they had picks over guys available is just as tragic. Rashad McCants over David Lee in 2005.  Ebi over Perk and Josh Howard in 2003.

Just a horrible horrible team.

Majority of the problem with the T-Wolves is that it's in MINNESOTA. Cold weather and not exactly the best night life. Garnett was a rare breed. Loyal to contract to and the the team.

I wish Lebron just said, Ya I'm going to Miami, because it's not Cleveland. Warm weather, night life, better players around him. What would you pick? Sure he could have got more money in Cleveland but still got a boat load of money in Miami.
But there are other bad weather teams not nearly as horrid.  New Jersey, Boston, Portland, Seattle back in the day. Indianapolis.  Those are before you get to the bad weather big city teams like Chicago, NY, and Philly.   Even Cleveland.  The only other team with potentially as bad a situation in as bad of weather is maybe Milwaukee. Had they drafted Chris Paul over Bogut their situation could have been different. Maybe this time they'll get it right, but I have doubts.

No question T-Wolves have made some bad drafting decisions. 09 they draft 3 point guards, keep 2 and the one they trade is the best of the bunch. Boston, Chicago, NY, and Philly at least have great city, even with the cold. If Chris Paul gets drafted by Milwaukee,  he's probably bolting from there as well.

That being said, if Minny was a playoff team, does Love stick around? I'm not sure.

Simmons tweet:

"Flip Saunders is a head coach/team prez/part-owner??? Kudos to Glen Taylor - with Sterling gone, he's officially the NBA's worst owner. Wow."

T-Wolves management and ownership, has been especially bad.  I'd put Dolan and Gilbert lower than Taylor, but the T-Wolves owner is certainly in contention as the worst in the NBA.

Brandon Roy
Rudy Gay
Steph Curry
Demarcus Cousins
Mario Chalmers
Joakim Noah
Ty Lawson
Demarr Derozan

All guys the wolves might've picked (or kept) instead of the Jonny Flynn parade of failures

The Wolves have been hamstrung by several things:

1) In there first two years in the league, their coach went with a more veteran-laden lineup than most expansion teams do.  It lead to more wins, but it also led to mediocre spots in the draft.  While the other expansion teams were getting talent like Glen Rice and Nick Anderson, Minny was getting guys like Felton Spencer and Luc Longley.

2) Poor GM moves.  The first 4-5 years of the McHale era were solid.  Other than that, it has been pretty awful.  Flip has been decent so far.

3) Incredibly bad lottery luck.  Boston fans like to gripe about bad luck in the lottery, but the C's don't hold a candle to the Wolves.   Here is an article that details it:

The Joe Smith-Kevin McHale tampering charge hurt them as well. Cost them some draft picks. Losing 4 1st round picks for trying to sign a player that never once made an all-star team was a disaster, not to mention the eventual salary cap space and money he cost them.
