I am no fan of PER when comparing players but neither do I put win shares in some much higher regard when comparing players. The marginalization to make the sum for all players on one team  equal the total wins on that team means players on bad teams will have deflated numbers and players on good teams will have inflated numbers, for the most part.

I thought the per36 numbers when comparing those players probably the best statistical comparison. Also, the eye test has to be passed. I think Sully and Butler played fairly closely in total overall performance last year with both players showing inconsistencies during the year. The per36 shows that so I would say they are pretty even.

I do, however, see more potential to grow as a player in Sully than the other players on Chicago.

Mirotic is the clincher.

You might think this guy is Michael Jordan the way people on this site talk about him...

Only reason he hasn't played in the NBA yet is he's so good, Stern banned him for fear he might totally dominate the league.

I'd guess he's almost as highly regarded as Rubio was, and he's really taken the league by storm...

At the very least, he's good enough to have used a lottery pick on him with the full knowledge that he was going to sit out the rookie scale years.

edit -- a first round pick: I remembered incorrectly.

I think he's looked at closer to how Toni Kukoc and Pau Gasol were perceived when they first came to the NBA.

Maybe Minnesota still dreams of bringing in Pau Gasol for a "Spanish Connection" with Rubio and thinks Mirotic would be a great piece to add to that pairing.

The Bulls are trying to use use their 16th and 19th picks in the draft to try and move up into the lottery, according to Chad Ford of ESPN.com.

The Nuggets hold the 11th pick and are believed to be the most likely to make a deal with the Bulls. Ford says they're possibly looking at Nik Stauskas and Gary Harris as possible selections should they succeed and move up.

If this is true and they want to trade with denver does this deal throw them out of the running to try to get love?

Yeah, my thoughts went there too.

Although, maybe Minnesota is really keen on getting Stauskas or Harris in a Love deal. One of those two, plus rights to Mirotic, plus Butler, plus Boozer's expiring? That's a pretty good return.

Chicago is also unquestionably.a better fit for love.

Chicago had the ability to pair love with an elite defensive big (Noah) who would be the perfect frontcourt partner for him,  and if Rose comes back healthy they also have a go-to scorer and natural leader,  allowing love to slip in to his more natural role as a number 2 scorer.

Love has a much better success or making the playoffs next year if he's in Chicago then he does in Boston. To be honest,  Boston is (IMO) a pretty terrible fit for love the way the roster is currently constructed.

yeah I'm sure as a superstar in his prime, Kevin love wants to bet his career and prime that rose will miraculously come back healthy, something that has never happened before. What a selling point.

When Rose came back for those 10 games, he looked worse than Rondo in his first 5.

Rose-Love-Noah could be great, or it could be atrocious if/when Rose gets hurt again.

However with Love/Rondo the Celtics have the flexibility and assets to add pretty much any third star they want.

So the idea that Chicago is this brilliant fit and Boston is terrible is laughable. It's really just bullcrap being made up by the people who don't want to trade for Kevin Love for some ridiculous reason

I wouldn't count on the Celts roster staying as currently constructed though. I'd expect them to add a very good defensive big among other things.
