Howard just wooowww!

I'm no soccer fan, but wow Howard has been awesome.  To soccer fans,  how does Howard rate world wide?

Tournament; Neuer(Ger), Ochoa(Mex) and Howard arguably top three GK

World wide; Neuer(Ger), Courtois(Bel), Buffon(Ita), Casillas(Esp- he is not as good as he usually is), Lloris(Fra) top 5 IMO.

Next five maybe; Handanovic(Svn), Sirigu(Ita), Howard(Usa), Muslera(Uru), Cech(Cze)

Great game
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

...and I am done with soccer for four years.   I'll watch the championship game, but that's about it.

That was a great game and we got farther than expected. We did well and proved that we can hang with some of the best. I'm proud of my country today.

What a way for the US team to go out and especially tim howard, which is in all probability his last World Cup. Maybe I will get to cheer him on in the olympics though.

How does one judge the potential quality of the U.S. team 4 years from now?  Any bright young players on the U.S. horizon that people know of....Maybe the two we saw today (right wing guy and Green)?

How about goalies?

As a Belgian Celtics fan, I have to say your team has battled and had me stressed until the last minute. Congratulations USA, you have heart!

I think it all depends on American football.  If injuries, particularly head injuries, scare our young athletes away, we'll make a lot of headway.  If not, our best athletes will still be playing A football.

Hey guys,

Belgian guy over here, just wanted to say that was an incredible match. Seriously i was stressing out at the end. Anyway, i'm glad my team won but the US Team played a really good game.

Was a wonderfull match and you guys played your hearts out. Really admire the never say die attitude.

And with the U.S. sports history and mentality, and the fact that soccer keeps on growing (not to mention you have a pool of 300 million people to choose from), i'd predict a very bright future for you. Wouldn't suprise me to see you as one of the better teams next world cup or afterwards.

In summary; glad Belgium won but great game. Congrulations on beating expectations.

Overall, i believe the US is getting closer and closer. They are still a step lower than the elite teams, but the grits, the defense, the conditioning, theyve showed they can compete. I think the biggest difference is really the technical aspect of the game. Comparing to the elites, the passes wasnt as crisp, the shots were just a little off, the control of the ball, the one touch shots, no control but just shooting. Thats the difference. US had so many opportunities to score and they just couldnt capitalize it, and in the world cup, if u cant capitalize, u wont advance.

With that said, US has been playing very well. They are competing, they are demanding respect, and the more people playing, the better well be. I think one thing that US doesnt have, is to play more street ball. The ball control, the one touch shot, those dont come from playing organized ball. They come from the backyard, playing with whatever is round. Challenging your neighborg or little brother, playing a 3 vs. 3, keep away, whatever you want.

I think the more we get away from playing organized ball and the more we play street ball, well get better and better and the continuation of conditioning, grits and hustle, well get further and further.

YES, our hopes are looking VERY good. Many of the players on this roster were young and will be coming into their prime by the next world cup.

Here is a list of some players and their age for the NEXT world cup:

Jozy Altidore, 29
John Brooks, 25
Timmy Chandler, 28
Mix Diskerud, 28
Omar Gonzalez, 30
Julian Green, 23
Aron Johannsson, 28
DeAndre Yedlin, 25

These are all people who were on the roster this year, and who in four years will be coming into their primes.

Also, the U.S has a star in the making in a kid called Ben Lederman. He has been in training at FC Barcelona for the past two years. He has serious skills and is the first ever American to be in the Barca training academy. He'll be 18 by the next world cup. I'm very excited for the future of US soccer!

Worldwide, I would drop Buffon, Lloris and certainly Casillas, who isn't even automatic
starter for RM.  Handanovic and Sirigu should be included off last season's performance
levels.

I like Lloris, but he made of lot of critical errors for Spurs last season.
