https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/the-rio-report/greece-surprising-request-turning-down-world-cup-bonus-133423113.html

Quote
Their latest warming turn of events comes courtesy of a Greek report which suggests the squad have politely turned down a bonus from their Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras, for reaching the knockout phase for the first time in the famous tournament's history.

Instead, they requested that the cash be used to build a brand-spanking new training centre for the national side so that they can continue to provide better results for their country
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Paging Jerome Boateng: It'd be awfully nice if you could join the other ten guys on the pitch, mkay?

I can hardly put in words how mad I am, right now. This is probably the worst performance by a german team I've seen in a decade. The defense is basically Mertesacker and noone else, every pass is either stupid or poorly executed, so many unnecessary turnovers, their not even running enough.

Thank God for Neuer, otherwise we would be 3 goals down.

Is Hummels injured? I would have thought that his passing from the back would be very useful in a game like this where the holding midfielders are getting pressed hard and CBs are being forced to make a lot of passes.

Oh gosh, Neuer was lucky there. Fumbled corner.

Terrific kick to put Schurrle in dangerous area right after that though. I like Schurrle coming on at halftime. I think someone more direct is good for rest of midfield. Too many guys who want to make the incisive pass and not enough guys looking to get on the end of it.

I say take off Kroos for Klose. Muller and Schurrle wide in support of Klose with Ozil in behind looking for runners to spring loose.

Or better yet - take off one of the full backs. Put Lahm there and let Kroos stay as holding mid.

Brilliant job by Neuer coming off his line and making that header. Judged bounce perfectly. Could have been in huge amounts of trouble if he had of gotten that bounce wrong. Brave choice.

Algeria haven't created much late in the 2nd half. Did great early but hanging on a bit now.

Germany are the team that are getting stronger as it goes on.
