For the Kevin Love fans, he's in Boston checking the town out

Apparently Boston managemtn (either Danny or Wyc) hinted that they would be willing to trade for him with no guarantee of an extension.

That, with a disloyal guy like Love, is asking for trouble.

Even if he does agree to an extension, doesn't stop him from making trade requests and tearing the team apart from the inside the way Dwight did in Orlando.  The way I see it Love is just as much a Prima Donna as Melo is, so I'd rather forget Love and aim for the guy who has actually played a playof game.

I would be very, very happy if we get Love, but before we all get too excited about his visit to Boston this weekend, let's remember that he doesn't need to visit LA or NY to know what those cities are about, he already knows them well.

Oh, I fully agree, but if he communicates through his agent that he would re-sign in LA or NY but not Boston then we are screwed, assets or no assets.

Well the Lakers look like they'll be rebuilding and so are the Knicks. I'm not sure why he'll force his way to either team in their present state.

The Lakers have reportedly had their eye on Love for the past few seasons and he loves LA, got roots in LA, his uncle is a freakin Beach Boy member. I'm guessing his interest in NY is for the bright lights and big city fame, and maybe Phil Jackson.

 He's here in Boston for a reason and I doubt it's for the history or night life.

Yea obviously he's here to see if he wants to commit to playing for the celtics, but it doesn't in any way mean that he made up his mind and is not considering LA or NY as he had suggested earlier. All I am saying is that he doesn't need to visit those two places to help him decide, he already knows NY and LA well enough.

Right -- as it stands Golden State, Chicago, and Boston seem like the best places for Love to land if he wants to compete for a title -- in roughly that order, descending.

  Considering Rose has played about 50 games in the last 3 years and what Chicago would have to give up to get Love I don't think that he'd be more likely to compete for a title if he went there.

Yea, and there are some legit questions about what kind of player Rose is going forward. He may never sniff his MVP form ever again after all of these knee surgeries. He certainly looked awful last season before he went down again.

What has Love done besides being honest about his intentions past this season with the TWolves management to indicate that he's disloyal?

Regarding Melo, he's had much better supporting casts in his career in Denver and in NY, and he's quite a bit older than Love.

Actually barring an injury that prevents him from getting a max contract offer typically not exercising your opt out and then signing from a higher base salary gets you more money.

More risk for the player as he doesn't have the longer contract sooner, but it can be a lot of dollars because of how the raises work in the CBA. CP3 didn't cost himself a dime by opting in, his contract was actually bigger than he'd have gotten from opting out and staying with the Clippers a year earlier.

He has a player option. I would be shocked if there wasn't a stipulation in the deal for Love to pick up the option and be here a guaranteed two years. I think if we can keep him for two years we will 100% convince him to stay.

I don't think there's any doubt that Love is here for basketball reasons.

The question I would have however, is if Boston is his first stop of many cities he'll be visiting this summer of teams he may end up getting traded to?
