For example, Rondo is #13 in jersey sales in a year where he didn't play hardly at all due to his knee injury. Love's jersey sales aren't in the top 15.Rondo has been to 4 all star games, to Love's 3. I mean everyone always says that the all star voting is just a glorified popularity contest right?I don't think it the obvious answer to say that Love's popularity would overnight eclipse Rondo's. C's fans have a lot of Rondo memories. They remember the championship season as he was coming into his own, they remember 2009 when RR almost averaged a triple double in the playoffs, they remember Rondo coming back from the dislocated elbow, being one of the leaders in the 2012 push against miami.Everything you posted just explains why Love wants out of Minnesota. If he's the star player on a Boston contender... no doubt he'd be a massive star in Boston. I'd wager 100 TP's to anyone who doubts that his jersey would be Top 5 in sales. If he starts working on perfecting the Walker Wiggle, he will easily be top 5 in jersey sales. Ironically, Walker was heavily criticized in Boston for that wiggle.Yep, constantly. Yet that and his quote about why he shoots so many 3s are what's left of his legacy. That's one of my all-time favorite sports quotes.

Quote from: Ogaju on May 31, 2014, 11:42:33 PMKobe was good to the media? really?Yes, really. The guy studies how to present himself in public and how to talk to the media. It's pathetic but effective. He has rarely been himself with the media, he usually goes for the pseudo Michael Jordan approach with a dash of family man thrown in after his rape allegation.

Yes, while we're discussing whether being a jerk has a big effect on your popularity it's worth considering that rape allegations don't.
I guess is HPTZ is right after all. I just did not realize that the media does eat up Kobe's shtick even though I see through him as a fake.

I just did not realize that the media does eat up Kobe's shtick even though I see through him as a fake. The thing that the media eats up is that he's not a jerk to them, but he's a jerk about the people he's talking about (team members, coach, organization). They know they can get some good quotes from Kobe and his opinions on others because he'd gladly give it and not care.
I would be very, very happy if we get Love, but before we all get too excited about his visit to Boston this weekend, let's remember that he doesn't need to visit LA or NY to know what those cities are about, he already knows them well.

Also what assets do the Knicks have?

I'm not sure why he'll force his way to either team in their present state.

I'm guessing his interest in NY is for the bright lights and big city fame, and maybe Phil Jackson.
