It's hard to tell how guys like Saric, Nurkic and Exum will do in the NBA.  Similar to how it was an unknown how well Nowitzki, Gallianari was going to do

Saric like Nowitzki is pretty much head and shoulders better than anyone else in his class in Europe.  He has won several major championships so far. If he went to play in a top end euro league, the only thing we can assume is that he would continue winning

I think the Celts should really consider taking a chance. The defense issue is seriously overblown.  He has very nice anticipaton skills and is 6'10. He will be bigger than 95 percent of the sf's in the nba.  Also as a SF in the nba

- would be top 3 in passing
- would be top 3 in ball handling
- would be top 3 in feel for game/iq level
- At this rate, top 5-7 in shooting
- Top 5-7 in coming through in the clutch
- And i think like Gallo would at least hold his own on the defensive end.  Good anticipation skills to make up for lack of exceptional quickness/athleticism, has a nonstop motor and is a fiery competitor

These are too many good things to pass up.

I know some people cringe at the thought at having him and KO on the floor at the same time. But that is also the reason why the Mavs made a big mistake skipping over KO, bc they couldn't see him playing with Dirk.

If we do take Saric, move Green to SG or trade him and or Sullinger and we will definitely need to get a nice rim procting center.  Asik would be nice but maybe an even more athletic guy like a Gorgui Dieng would be better.

lineup possibility

C - someone like a Dieng
Pf - KO
SF - Saric
SG - Green or draft Hairston
PG- Rondo

What are you basing this on?  You understand that he's got a negative assist-to-turnover ratio, and is a sub-35% 3PT shooter, right?  And that at the highest level of competition he played (the second-tier Eurocup) his team went 1-9, right?

He is an excellent passer , asdist/TO ratio or not. You can improve on lowering your tos but you cant learn to pass the way saric can

Also his shooting was solid in the tourney. He has improved quite a bit

His team overall was bad. He was the only key talent. Put him on a better team and he would only assist with the teams success

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Just watched those two videos and I have some comments
1. I think he will have a place in the league as a stretch 4
2. Not athletic enough to finish at the rim in the NBA.
3. Could become strong enough to guard 4's but I don't think he'll ever be quick enough to guard small forwards
4. Has some moves but he better be able to knock down shots in small windows, since his athleticism will make the degree of difficulty high on his shots.
5. Will succeed in the pick and roll both with the ball and rolling/popping
6. Probably needs to play with a rim protector, which we don't have
7. I personally wouldn't take him until 10 (top 8 plus McDermott), but if he's there with our second pick we have to take him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If that's remotely accurate we'll have to trade up 4-5 spots to get him.

nope. Bc he is not

- in the top 10 in terms of athleticism/quickness
- not top 10 in individual defense capabilities (though i predict top 10 in team defense capabilities)
- Decent rebounder but little to no effect as a shot blocker
- He can't play any other position other than a SF in the nba. PF maybe down the line if he bulks up though that could hamper his mobility.

So no you don't have to move up and he will be there at 6.

I do agree though if you get him and you also play KO/Sullinger at the same time, everywhere else in the lineup will have to be athletic , provide above avg defense. Especially the center spot.

I would imagine if Danny really likes Saric that Sully or Green or a combination will have to be traded for a legit rim protector.

Saric reminds me a lot of Chandler Parsons. Not the athlete Parsons is but not a ridiculous comparison.

I think #6 is a reach, but if Ainge moved back or was really a believer I could get behind it.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Better than parsons. Parsons is a little more athletic though

If he can play good enough defense to stay on the court at SF, he's going to be able to shoot over the heads of SFs, and post them up with relative ease, not to mention see over them for passing vision.

And he'd be a great rebounder from the SF position as well.

If Brad went with an uptempo emphasis, Saric would fit right in at SF or PF. Compared to Jeff Green, Saric is a much better rebounder, and a much better ball handler for starting the fast break himself.

I don't see Celtics selecting him unless they also trade Rondo.  His biggest asset is his play-making, which would be neutralized by a ball dominant PG like Rondo.
