Everyone, including the Bucks, know that they have no shot to land free agents, and also the top players in the draft do not want to go there. Because of the lottery more people are saying the Bucks are the new Clippers and it is purgatory if you go there.

I think the best way for the Bucks to change their perception and not lose their top draft picks in free agency (which we all know is almost a guarantee) is to do what we did in 07.

Rondo/Knight
Mayo/Delfino
J Green
John Henson/ Bass/Ilyasova
Larry Sanders/John Henson

Obv Rondo would have to be convinced to stay there, but the new owners knew what they were buying and maybe they think if they put a contending team out there they can. And they would need to sort Larry Sanders out.

Giannis and the #2 are both legitimate building blocks.  The Bucks wouldn't trade those for one year of Rondo, a decent SF, and an expiring contract.

I think you're overrating our assets a little bit.

Tell me, do you think when their contacts are up they will sign with another team or stay there. Also do you know that almost all agents are avoiding that team like the plague?

Building blocks are great..just ask , Orlando, and Cleveland how it worked out for them.
Young players with potential can get injured or not pan out right.....or do fine but then leave. Thats all I'm trying to say.

Most successful players re-sign after their rookie deal.  The Bucks are better off going with cost-controlled talent, rather than older guys who will leave in a year or two.

Like Roy said,  they aren't giving up two building blocks.  The other thing is that this trade wouldn't even be enticing in the short term.  The Bucks don't look all that much better after the trade, and they lose maybe their two most valuable assets.

There needs to be a Celticsblog trade idea hall of shame.

And this trade is a first-ballot hall of shamer.

If Danny pulled off this trade, it would be in the trade hall of fame.  Of course, the GM of Milwaukee would need to be committed.

Yeah but I agree with Roy here as well.

Giannis is locked up for four season on a cheap contract. Their number two pick will be there for 5 seasons of cheap money. The Bucks could turn out to be a Thunder-esque franchise (if all the cards turn out right). Obviously players can get injured and the plan might not pan out (Portland) but having two young potential studs on cheap contracts for four and five years is worth the risk much more than it is to trade for 3 veterans in their final year (Green's option) that all wouldn't want to re-sign with the Bucks.

RR, Green, Bass and even #17 for #2 and Sanders? :p that way, they can have salary cap flexibility and be rid of the malcontent that is Sanders.

If I'm giving up Bass, I need at least 5 additional first round picks, and 8 or 9 million dollars in non-sequential hundred dollar bills.

Because even though Rondo would never sign with the Bucks, they could get Bass to re-sign there for at least 25 years.

This makes more sense.  I like it.

Yep, though I think if Boston also sent them back #6 it might be more enticing and might actually get considered depending on what they put their odds of re-sigining Rondo as.  At least that way they pick up a nice cost controlled rookie that can help fill another need for them.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Not sure I like it but leaves us with a (hypothetical) line up of...

Smart (@6)/Pressey
Bradley/Johnson
Parker(@2)
Sully/KO
Sanders/Faverani

That's a young team stuck in mediocre development for at least 4 years.
