Gordon at 6'9" looks like he is still growing

Not that it means anything but I grew until I was 21.   I am about 6'7.5" w/o shoes and close to 6'9" in them.  But I too think he may grow some more maybe one inch or two.

I must admit - I was low on Gordon at the beginning of the season, but I am warming to the idea of him. I know this video is just a stupid, edited highlight film with no defenders, but I was impressed with the ball handling and back to the basket moves (no defense - I know). He has the NBA body, good defensively, good IQ, good handler and passer, and a passable shot. I wouldn't hate him as the selection...

LaVine for me is another story. I think he is all flash and no substance. I'll pass on him - even at 17.

Both look like guys who are all athleticism and not much else to me.

My impression after this video is the same as it was before - I still don't see what on earth all the fuss is about with Gordon.  I'm not impressed by his ability to hit hook shots without a defender on him, or hit open three point shots while undefended on a practice court.

Defensively I think he would be a minor (if any) upgrade over Jeff, and offensively he'd be a major downgrade from Jeff Green.. I don't see much potential for him to improve in the future either.  I thinkk he's going to become a MKG type - solid starter and good defender, but that's about it.

What I don't like about the LaVine workout video is that he is wearing low top sneakers, and not showing off any moves based on lateral quickness, except his little step backs where he takes 3 steps every time.

LaVine posted great agility times at the Combine, but he so far seems to only play like a straight line athlete.

Tommy Point for noticing his 3-step travel every fade away jumper too!  I was wondering if I was the only one who saw that lol.

I have really warmed up to Gordon lately.  The hours leading up to the draft lottery I went back and listened to different podcasts, including Chad Ford's mid-season one with Bill Simmons.  His praise of Gordon was accurate, and also threw in that scouts have high regard for his work ethic, family values, and generally having a really good head on his shoulders.  When you combine this with Gordon's recent comments about liking the Celtics for being a high-class organization that has a great family atmosphere, I think he could be a really great long-term fit :)

Gordon's video was impressive, primarily because his ball handling, foot work, and jumper are much better than I had anticipated.  If he's still growing into his body then it would explain why his shooting has been suspect at times, but given his solid form then I fully expect his free throw shooting to improve.  To be candid I wouldn't be surprised if he went in the top 4, ahead of Exum.  I really hope not.

LaVine's video was not impressive to me at all.  I don't think flying to the hoop and dunking is any indicator of how someone will play in the nba, and that's about all that I saw.  Footwork wasn't that great, little back to the basket skill, and I gained no insight about his lateral quickness (offense or defense).

Given that we have Rondo I don't believe that there's much value in drafting Marcus Smart.  Even if we traded Rondo I still value a 2-way SF like Gordon much more than a PG.

I really like Gordon still, but I was slightly underwhelmed by his workout video. Lavine is clearly more explosive than he is. Granted that's a high bar as Lavine is almost on par with Wiggins in that regard, but I didn't see Gordon getting elevation off of one foot or busting from the 3pt line with big explosive strides. He does have a very quick pivot. I just wish I could see him shoot some FT's...

Lavine obviously confirmed what we know, he is super explosive. But let's not consider him at #17, please: in this deep draft, I'd rather take lesser athlete who's displayed far more skill at basketball.

Oh I thought it was the video where he was hitting some ft's......that's his problem.

Will need to put on a lot more strength, from what I've read.

But holy crap if he grows an extra inch or two...very well maybe.

Even if he doesn't, this might be NBA ready at 18...at least on defense...with a ton of athleticism as well as fantastic physical measurements (and therefore "upside").

His shot looks way more fluid than during the college season.  He's definitely improved his mechanics.  I hate these workouts though because they are all choreographed and the videos are edited down.  The big question with all of these guys, can they get their shot off against a world class pro level NBA athlete in 5 on 5?  It'd be really nice to even se 3 on 3.
