Do you think they'll look into changing this crap system going forward? At least putting a stop to a team getting the first pick three out of four years (What are the official odds on what the Cavs have done in the last four years by the way? They have to be like 1 out of like 10,000 at least, right?)

Call it sour grapes if you want, but I'm really not mad at all about the C's getting sixth. Just a very bad organization with no direction getting freebie after freebie is flat out wrong. If you get all these top picks and you're still in the lottery, we need to move on from you.

I don't think the lottery system should be abolished altogether. I just think if you get the top pick twice in three years and you still can't get your act together, you shouldn't be given another for at least a couple years.

Even going back to the 2003 draft your looking at Cleveland getting 4 NUMBER 1's in 11 years.  That too is astounding.  Then you look at the other picks like Tristan Thompson at number 4 Dion Waiters number 4.

That is a really impressive number of top picks.  Draft wheel here we come.

Best system does not  allow teams that picked top three picks to repeat lottery tanking trip program year after e year .....you win a top three pic.....then you go to the back of the line .

Not allowing teams to be in the lottery every year would discourage tanking...can't return for three years if you win ....just do this and base the rest on record like every other sport.

TP - I don't always agree with what you have to say LarBrd, but this is totally true. All year we (a tanking team) were complaining about teams like Philly and Orlando purposely losing games, but now a team who wasn't trying to tank wins it and we all want the system changed.

I would have loved a top 3 pick, but it didn't happen. Now let's move on with our lives and either draft an impact player or trade the pick for an impact player.

One thing the lottery does is encourage teams not to tank, which I'm glad we didn't do. Teaching Sully, Bradley, Pressey, and KO how to lose was not what we needed to do.

The other thing it does is teach teams not to rely on the draft. Case in point...Greg Oden.  We lost out. Ainge said "Screw this" and made the moves he needed to. Had we won Oden maybe we'd be the Blazers right now.

What is really the Cavs problem right now? Is it the draft? Heck no. It's that they couldn't keep their own free agent or attract any others.

The draft is one piece of the puzzle, but only one. People look at it as a get out of jail free card, but it's actually a chore.

The lottery creates a disincentive to tank, since losses become less valuable than drafting strictly by record.  Some GMs are stupid and will tank despite it being a bad idea.  You can't stop tanking without getting rid of idiot GMs who think tanking is a good idea.  I don't want other front offices to be forced to be better.
