Sherrod with his mock ver 3 has the celts picking Embiid at 5.  Plenty of other mocks have this scenerio happening. Celts took a chance on sullinger with his back problem, fixed him up and basically got a steal in the 2012 draft. Can lightning strike twice?? Noel dropped last year and usually players with some kind of injury or injury scare seem to drop several spots down.

If the first 4 teams pass on embiid due to concerns regarding his back, would you want danny to take a chance on him even if it means for him to get surgery and miss all of next season?

I do think this is a reasonable chance of happening, and I would be for it pending doctor input.  Is this something that can be fixed surgically?  Is this something that is likely to be chronic?  How chronic?  Someone who plays 65 to 70 games, but never an entire season, or someone who is lucky to play more than half the games in his "healthy" years.

Every player has their risks.  Not every player has his reward, so it depends how big those risks are.

Maybe he falls to fourth... a decent chance .....arg. ......why did we win those last two  :'(

Five ???....slim maybe ...probably NONE  actually

What Celtics need is to have a little LUCK throw  our way   .....and land in the top three.

We need a top three pick

Hook or Crook. We need it.

So what's bigger, the chance of Embiid dropping to 5, or the chance of the Celtics dropping below the 5th pick?

:P

Just about 0%, I would say.

I could see Parker, Wiggins, and Exum all going ahead of Embiid.

Just a matter of who that 4th guy would be to bump Embiid down to #5.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

:P

First thought I had as well upon reading the title..

With our lottery luck the last two decades I'm sure we'll have the 8th pick if Embiid drops to five. I'm really hoping our luck changes this year...

I can't see him dropping out of the top 2 right now, unless his back tests as really messed up.

would be shocking if that happened, and I can't imagine it would unless the doctor report was really really bad. Even with a 50% chance of turning into Greg Oden I'd take him at 5 and cross my fingers, the potential reward is just so huge.

Most mocks having embiid dropping to us have either randle or smart going 4th.

I can see the jazz not taking the risk on embiid (plus they have favors playing center) .

Celts can also make a deal to secure embiid if he drops past 3rd. Trade the 17th for the 23rd.  That is prob what its going to take

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Yeah, I have seen Randle at #4 more often than I would have thought. The problem is, we actually have a pretty solid chance at getting the #6. If that's the case, we would really need Gordon, Smart, or Vonleh to go in front of Embiid - which isn't very likely.

Me too.....i d still take Embiid after Parker or Wiggins.

I say he goes #3

We get Randle or Gordon
