Rondo has value...I just think we over value him. The going rate on an all-star point guard (Jrue Holiday) is the #6 pick in an awful draft and an additional mid-first. For Rondo I would like to believe we could expect a little more but as I listed above, with all the teams that have a PG the demand can't be that high.
It's hard to tell what was true about the Kings rumors, one thing that was for sure is they wouldn't do a deal if he didn't sign an extension and that's not going to happen.
You are kind of underrating the Holiday trade. The #6 selection was Noel, who most thought should have been the #1 pick, but who teams didn't want to wait for. This was not a problem for Philly. And the additional mid-first is actually the #10 pick in what people already knew was going to be a huge draft. For a guy like Holiday, this is a good haul - I would expect Rondo to fetch more than him.
And I also agree that Houston would just love to get out of the Asik and Lin contracts - there isn't any way that we simply trade them Rondo for them. Parsons and two picks are the minimum on a Rondo return.
Overall, I do appreciate the fact that you aren't overly optimistic about what we can get for our players - people usually swing in the other direction.
