I don't think that's a particularly competitive roster in the short-term.  Whether that justifies further tanking is a matter of debate, but I think we'd end up with a fairly high draft pick again, because that squad just wouldn't be very good right away.

This is my thinking too.   It wouldn't take but one serious injury to the right player , and next years record could be as bad of worse.  But .....well have to see if the big deal happens .....the mega deal for an elite player.....or that's another year off ..... In my way of seeing the rebuild.

2017 ....is my guess for the Celtics to make serious noise .

that team won't win many games, but that doesn't mean the tank will be on. There's a difference between "tanking" and "losing because you're bad". For example, the Sixers, Lakers and C's were tanking. Meanwhile, the Bucks, Jazz & Magic were bad. Now that's just my opinion but that's honestly how things seemed this year.

Team should be better next year.  We will make roster moves/signings with the goal of winning in mind.  THis year the goal was clearly to bottom out and add flexibility/assets for the future.

I think Boston is ok with tanking once a decade... back-to-back years really isn't their style. They'll re-focus on winning next year even if it results in a 38 win season.

Every once in a while, I agree with you.  This is one of those instances.

You can't start two rookies (especially two one-and-done 19 year-old kids) and expect the team to be any good. They would be headed to the lottery again with that team, in which case you might as well tank.

"Good" is a relative term, here.  We are talking about being able to win enough games to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Maybe I should have phrased it different in the original post.

Would we need another top pick to get back to relevancy or can we build around a core of Rondo, Sully, Embiid, KO, Young and Early, with Okafor, Pressey, johnson and Bass as supporting characters.
