Very confusing, but is either one better for us lottery chance wise? If LA wins we will be in 5th place alone. If Utah wins we will be in a 3 way tie for 4th.

Does it matter?

It will probably matter.

I guess I'd prefer the Lakers to win.  Since we're likely to beat Philly, we'll probably end up with 36 wins.  I'd like to see the Lakers get to that number, as well, so we'd likely end up no lower than tied for 5th.

I don't think it will matter.  I expect us to beat Philly.  We will likely beat the Wizards in the final game, because they will be resting their quality players.  So we're finishing with 27 wins... which ties us with the Kings... coin flip gets us to #7.    But at least if the Lakers win, they'll finish out of the top 4... they'll still end up winning the lotto, though... so whatever.

That's beyond realist and into pessimistic territory lol. Aren't the Wizards still playing for playoff seeding? The lakers are also versing the Spurs the final game so Duncan/Parker/Ginobli/half the team will all be sitting. But yeah I suppose, assuming we win tonight, that we should root for the Lakers to win.

I know.  I'm being a crankypants.  I need my afternoon nap.

Realistically, if I'm not being a total sourpuss... Maybe me only win 1 of those games and end up with 26 wins.   Root for the Lakers to win so we can tie with them and have a coin flip shot at #5.  That would be rather funny, wouldn't it?  The Lakers and Celtics both tying with 26 wins?   We'd split the ping pong combinations for a shot at the Top 3.  How angry will one of the fanbases be if the other ends up in the Top 3 with identical odds?  lol.

Utah victory only puts them at 25 wins.  Might as well root for the Lakers.  No way we lose the next 2.   Last two games set us back a bit.

We save our worst for Philly though... we can always hope. I truly thought the Bobcats and Cavs would beat us, so maybe thinking Philly will lose to us will mean we drop a dud and lose to them again. I just want to remain optimistic because these last wins were incredibly pointless (though I was happy about KO last night).

Sadly, I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the possible reality that we've blown it by seasons end and we're picking 6-8... in which case I'm going to hope that KO and Sully take the next step next year and whoever we pick ends up becoming a 3rd either really good role player or future all star and can compliment those two. If we take Gordon, for example, I'll pray he develops an outside shot and becomes Griffin jr (less strength inside but better range). If we pick 6th though I'd hope we grab Smart.

I reject the premise of this question, and refuse to support anything that helps the Lakers, be it a win in a basketball game or a 'victory' in moving closer to the #1 pick.

It should never have come down to us looking for help. We should have tanked this thing all on pour own. We were right there and we blew it. The worst thing than backing into the playoffs is backing into a tank!!!

Lakers win = Lakers loosing = Celtics winning

Rooting for Lakers

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my

Well this thread is depressing...  ???

How about this?

Philly pretty much has no reason to lose purposely anymore. Milwaukee isn't winning there last two and Orlando can't catch them. Philly has been playing hard lately too. In their last five games:

Beat Boston
Lost by only four to nets
Lost by eleven in Toronto who is giving everything for 3 seed
Lost bad to Memphis who is playing for playoff lives
Lost by only six to Charlotte

Philly is playing better ball and tomorrows game is phillys last home game.

Washington has to finish a game ahead of Charlotte to get the sixth seed and avoid Miami or Indiana. Charlotte plays Atlanta next who now has nothing further to play for. If Charlotte wins that game them Washington is playing at full force in game 82.

Lol so we could lose our last two and finish at 25-57. If Utah beats la tomorrow and both lose game 82 then we have a three way tie for fourth best lottery odds.

Its cool... Finishing the season with a 4 game win streak will go a long way towards building that winning culture.  Don't need transcendent draft picks

The worst thing than backing into the playoffs is backing into a tank!!!

This quote sums up our season.

A long, sucky season was on the brink of being salvaged by top odds going into the lottery, and the team couldn't even do that right.  Just one more thing the team couldn't close out going into the metaphorical fourth quarter.

Hopefully sac gets a win tonight against minny in sac town. Kevin Love and Martin (see what I did there?) are both questionable. Assuming Boogie keeps playing like a beast and Corey brewer doesn't go for fifty sac has a chance.

Soooo....the celtics arent playing tonight and are going to lose. (Makes me wonder if Rondo didnt nudge the guys and tell them to tank the night off #pun)

Im a tank nerd but not even I know this one.

What is better lottery wise for us, a 3 way tie for 4th or the 5th slot outright? I assume the tie for 4th but Im not sure

In terms of lottery balls, it's almost identical. 90 lottery balls in a 3-way tie, 88 balls if we're 5th outright.
