The difference between 3rd worst record and 6th worst record in terms of odds of getting a top 4 pick are dramatically different.  If we win one more, that is what could very well happen.  We probably just blew chance of 3rd worst odds.  Other teams are clearly tanking, Stephens.

Agree , and the folks cheering for us to win these last 5 games are being very short sighted. If that little Pressey is the difference between a top 4 pick and 7 I am going to be sick . The drop off after 4 seems pretty clear .

Just start johnson, babb and anthony for the rest of the year

No point in being prideful and winning, just hurts our chances of getting a huge piece to the puzzle..

They hired the wrong coach for tanking.

He should ...but he is honest Abe to the end ......

Stevens more than likely got assurance s from Danny ...he wouldn't sit players to lose games

Stevens mindset

Won't allow this strategy .

Danny and Rondo will tank

Not Stevens

All I wanted this season was a Top 8 pick.

Seems our most likely scenario will be #6 in the tank rank.  I'm fine with it.  Whatever.  I just wanted to avoid a pick 9-15 disaster.

Sure, it'd be great to land Embiid, Wiggins or Parker, but it's not in the cards.  We have 3 more games and the Lakers/Jazz are not fielding even mildly competitive teams right now.  Hopefully we don't get super unlucky in the lotto... even with the 6th odds, you can theoretically fall the way to #9.

We'll end up with someone like Marcus Smart or Aaron Gordon.   Should be a nice chip.

Danny I'll bet money on it ....agreed not to pressure Stevens to sit players to loose .

That was probably in the original agreement

Stevens is being a fool though ....he is like Doug Collins ...he would have never tanked Philly

Honestly we should have hired a nothing coach to start ....like Philly ...one that would dowhatever the GM wants

This will sink the Celtics for next 30 years

Zero reason to win this game.

I t will come back to haunt the Celtics

This is not 1965 ....can't get or recruit players like they did back then.

The NBA has forced tanking to get good players

To intentionally  avoid using the system to gain talent is nothing short of moronic

Winning this game is zero meaning less

So now ...may have to fire Stevens ..hire a tanking coach...so that the team can get dome talent ....

Coach is screwing up the draft is just amazing act of ignorance

Geesse he is hard headed

I

you act like one of these picks are a shoe in to be Hall of Famers

Building a team and the team spirit is also important. Why don't these teams then throw in the towel and refund the fans their money??

You play to win. It doesn't matter if you lost every single game of the year. You still try to win the last one

We are still going to be able to draft a good player. If Green can play like tonight on a consistent basis, Danny is not going to trade him, even if we draft a guy like Wiggins. Embiid is the only guy i would even remotely consider tanking for. And its too late now. We have to win the lotto or trade the picks to try to get him

Understand that even though its easy for fans to yell tank, the coaches and players feel disgraceful when losing games, especially in front of their own fans. Its been a while i seen Stevens with a smile in a long time.

TP for you. I rooted for this team to win for about 70 games, but these last 10, well c'mon, they are meaningless games. Stevens won't tank and the players won't either because at the vet least they are looking to pad their stats for their next contracts. Only Ainge can tank by forcing players to sit for frivolous medical excuses. But he can't make it too obvious.

I love the outrage and hyperbole that occurs when the Celtics win their first game in 10.

Some of you people need to look up 'law of averages.'

Complete overreaction. Also we have to wait for the "lottery" either way. (yeah, a lottery all right)

That being said, We shouldn't play our starters or main players risking injuries and not really a lot to be gained.
Play the guys that don't have a lot opportunities to play and rest your main guys.  And not because of tanking, because it's the move the makes the most sense.
But then the team can't do that because it's a "disservice to the league and fans" or "contrary to the best interest of the NBA" or some other ridiculous reason like that.
Eliminated from playoffs? Rest everybody, give the kids a chance. That's how it should be. For every team.

But no to match fixing. Playing a squad of young guys, D-Leaguers and rookies is ok, telling your guys to just go out there and lose is not.
Goal for next season: Top 2 seed.
Say goodbye to: Turner, Zeller, Sully.

Whoever they take with their first pick is going to be under more pressure next year than any Celtcs draft pick in recent memory.  If he doesn't perform right away with the media in this town, things could get ugly real quick.  Whoever they take better be someone who can deal with being put under a microscope.  Those that don't like enormous pressure on their shoulders need not apply.
