I think we'll probably finish 3rd or 4th at this rate?  It's going down to the wire now!!

I am going to freaking laugh my ass off if the Celtics tank so well that they end up with the 3rd lottery slot and everyone around here is celebrating and then the 4th, 5th, and 6th slotted teams end up with the top three picks. I am just going to laugh and laugh at all you guys until next season.

God that would be hilarious!!

Are you just going to laugh if the C's don't win one the top 3 picks? That's the most likely scenario after all no matter where we land.

I'm with you -- to a point.  so many people rooting for the worst record not realizing that the more ping pong balls a team has is no guarantee of winning anything in the lottery.  even Milwaukee, as the team with the worst record, has a 75% chance of not winning the first pick.  3 to 1 odds someone else gets that pick.

having said that, I'd really be p---ed off that we got screwed again -- especially if we were leapfrogged by the Lakers

Someone is obviously missing the extreme irony in wanting to be awful to maximize your chances only to have the 3 teams directly behind the Celtics end up with the top three picks.

Do I really have to explain further why this would be so hysterical to someone who abhors purposeful tanking?

Right that particular scenario would be symbolic from your point of view. But what about the C's just getting jumped by one random team further down? Will that be hilarious too?

In the end I just think its a rather dark gloomy way to be a fan to be rooting against the team in the lottery because you're annoyed that some other fans rooted against the team winning some games.

Same thing when people are happy when "player x" whom they don't like for their team is injured.

1. I am only talking about that scenario.

2. I wouldn't be happy about or like that scenario playing out, I would just find it hilarious in a macabre sort of way.

3. I am not rooting for the Celtics to lose the lottery. Never said I was. I think you are making a major leap in assuming that based on my comment.

4. I think your slight condemnation over my finding that funny and kind of questioning my fanhood(Calling it dark and gloomy. Given my history on this site of starting a positive only thread for fans and cheering for the team to win no matter what, I would figure you would know me better than that by now.) rather interesting given the flood of fans that openly cheer for the Celtics to lose for a bit higher percentage CHANCE at getting a slightly better draft slot. I find that to be rather "dark and gloomy" fandom myself.

I asked the question Nick because I didn't know what you were rooting for. If I was assuming I wouldn't be asking the question, you just seemed very excited for your hypothetical to play out so I was curious.

And I don't think its questioning "fanhood" to say that's not my cup of tea to root for a lottery loss anymore than it is to say you don't root for the C's to loss.

As for not knowing you Nick, I know you pretty well. You tend to be all in or all out on things, I wasn't sure how far this crappy season, macabre game threads, meaningless games, and garbage time had pushed you.  ;)

No worries Nick, tp.

I really can't wait till the draft lottery. I want to be able to look at the future whatever it is instead of having to think about ping pong balls.
