Danny was in love with Yi in 2007, too.

And we all know how that worked out.

Let's hope this is misdirection. I don't care for Exum's game.

A 6'6" guard with point guard skills, elite athleticism, a great wingspan, ability to finish against length, good rebounding ability, high IQ and the potential to be an elite defensive player...what's not to like?

Seriously think he has a good chance he will be the best player in the draft 3 years from now.    From what I see Exum, Embiid and Wiggins have the highest upsidein the draft, but Embiid's "Tragic Bronson" like BBIQ concerns me, as does his relatively raw current state.  He's a high risk, high reward player.  Exum and Wiggins on the otherhand Look like lye risk, high reward players - you know they week be good, you just don't know how good.

Parker I think we'll be the most overrated player in this draft and IMO is more of a "safe choice" suitable for a team that's a fringe playoff team and wants an extra piece to help them win now.  I think his outright potential is pretty unspectacular.

Last year the big rumor on a foreign player was Ainge loved Adetekumbo and that the C's were the team most scouting him.

Ainge traded up and took Olynyk.

So I guess we have to take these reports with a grain of salt.

wish Ainge listened to those reports...

Why would you say that??  Olynyk is a 13.3 efficiency rating and A......... is an 11.6.

I am happy with the Klynyk.  I am very confused as to why others are so unhappy with Kelly!!!!

We also heard Danny "loved" Giannis Antentokoumpo.  Didn't end up taking him though.

After Antetokoumpo I don;t think Ainge will pass on international prospects so easy.

Once again, I don't understand the fascination with Ante.... who has an 11.60 efficiency rating compared to Oly who has a 13.30.  Once again, tell me WHY the heck this foreign player is BETTER than Kelly.  And I am sick of hearing that he is an athletic freak.  Zeller tested out as an athletic freak at the Chicago pre-draft BUT that NEVER showed in Indiana and it CERTAINLY is NOT showing with the Bobcats.  The best athletes are NOT always better basketball players!!!!!!!!!!  Please see Larry Bird and other non-athletes.

For anyone who hasn't seen him play, I started this thread yesterday and posted the most recent video that I found of him.

http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=69896.0

My thoughts on his play (in summation): he is more of a point guard than an off guard, incredible first step, great court vision, good passer, good handling, solid shooting form (not a lightning quick release though)
That video scares me.

The level of competition he is playing against is woeful. The speed and athleticism he is hard to judge when everyone he is playing with and against is so slow and nonathletic.

He appears to have no left hand in his game though his passing and floor management appeared good for a PG. Shot form seemed good, or at least an excellent base to work from.

If that was a highlight film, I have to question whether he has what it takes to succeed at the NBA level. I can't say for certain judging by that film and others I have seen that he is any better than most high quality PGs I have seen in the NCAA and most high quality NCAA PGs do not ever get to play in the NBA.

I have said this before regarding Exxum, picking him would scared the beJesus out of me because he just looks like a fairly skilled college PG and not someone special that's about to be drafted. Its just tough to judge guys like that when the level of competition they are playing against is so low.

Perhaps Danny will learn from his massive mistake.

Massive mistake??????????  Are you guys serious?????????

Video of Exum against the top college freshman in the country in last year's Nike Hoop Summit. He was the best player in the game and the difference in the World team beating the USA.

That wasn't a highlight video - all footage was from the same game. It was just the most recent game footage I could find. Most highlight videos of him show him with Australia a few years back. As far as his competition goes - yeah, they aren't great. But they are other people his age. He is bigger, quicker, and more talented than any other Australian his age. His size and court vision will translate to any continent. He will have to develop a better, stronger body to make sure he can finish even if he can't beat his defender (an athletic NBA one) directly off the dribble.

I know it was all from a game but it was highlights from that game.

I want to see many full game videos or watch full live games of him before judging him. I want to see how he handles picks, how he handles speed from the opposing player, how well he can defend in a man to man situation, how he plays the pick and roll, how he can create his own shot without taking it to the basket, etc. etc.

Just tough to do from highlight film's and the vids I have seen which is why I question why some are so certain about him because I know 99% of the posters on this board that are positive Exxum is a star haven't seen any more or less vid on him than me.

Big guard. Pogo stick body. Can't shoot. Will be a tough fit with Rondo.

Agreed. Rondo needs a lights out shooter at the 2, to make up for his deficiency.  Would like to see us snatch up a really good shooting guard, like Gary Harris.

Or James Young. Assuming he leaves.

Nik Stauskas please and thank you.  Much better shooter than Gary Harris.  Harris may be better at defense, but Stauskas has torched him twice this year.

So does Ainge not have any interest in Wiggins? We've heard Parker, Embiid, and now Exum. Watch we pick Wiggins lol

I think this is a good chance .......I think this is how it will play out....our luck we won't get a chance to take Parker or Embiid......the easy choices

Our luck .... Exum is third  we miss him too.... :P

Most likely DA , if he keeps the pick ..... Takes Wiggins or Randle

Randle is the sure thing but maybe not a star.....but if Wiggins turns out to be Kobe #2...and DA passes on him......,then the screw up will go for the next 30 years of whining

Danny is danged if he does and danged if he don't.......we'll never ever hear the end of the complaining

I don't see any chance whatsoever that Exxum cracks the top 3. Its Wiggins, Embiid and Parker in some order

I am sure that Danny Ainge will be looking at him with as much scrutiny as you outline, Nick. But as fans, our information is limited, and we make judgments accordingly. Based on the limited footage and scouting reports, this kid seems like he could be special.

Since Exum is the best player in this draft IMO, we better like him. The ones that don't draft him will regret it, it's another cause of guard undervaluation.

From what I've seen he has Jordan-esque skills.

But oh boy it's funny reading some guys talk like there is only basketball in the USA or that College basketball is a "serious competition" :o
Goal for next season: Top 2 seed.
Say goodbye to: Turner, Zeller, Sully.

you're probably the only that thinks Exum's the best player in this draft.  I could understand making the argument he's 4th best behind Embiid, Parker and Wiggins but not a better prospect than all 3 of them.

Boston is stuck in the sorry east conf."......where we can't help but win games......I don t think we can lose enough games to get a top four pic anyway.......too many bad teams and west is forcing LA in to the top pick.

I think we wind up with Randle  picking 5 or 6  or 7...because he is best of the rest , until actual NBA experience proves different.

Should of traded Green and Bass off for the best offer........but well see :-[
