No, Pacers win deadline if you ask me (which you didn't lol)! Granger a shell of himself is gone (they couldn't afford him after the season anyway) for Turner and Allen. I guarantee that Mia is like, "Oh shipment!" Bird is a genius! Allen may not get any minutes but I think his addition is underrated, he is another solid big who will do well in that system, he's exactly the type of player for that team as a backup's backup. Turner can give them what Granger was suppose to, I bet once he's acclimated he can give you more than 8pts in 20+mins! Plus he can go on a tear on any given night. Oh man, Pacers are gonna be a tough out! Then not forgetting that Bynum could get healthy enough to give them only what he gave Cleveland, wow!

Sure, Mia is the champs, you never count them out but they aren't just champs, they are b2b champs and are still the same team, it's so difficult to 3peat. Indiana is a beast who already took them to the limit, now they are BETTER because they didn't even have Granger last season! I can't wait for the matchup but I also will enjoy it no matter who takes Mia and the dirty bum knees Wade out! Do it for the people teams!!!

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I agree with ImShak. Pacers win because they've seriously fortified their bench with a player who can actually play.

2nd rnd picks are worthless.

If the goal is to buy low, 2nd round picks are often among the most undervalued assets out there.

High second rounders are quite valuable almost on a par with a late first rounder. Teams who draft here have a fair opportunity to acquire a rotation player. Can cost $2-3 million to buy on draft day and teams frequently reluctant to give them up. So hard to acquire. Valuable trade asset / draft picks.

Mid second rounders can usually be acquired for a reasonable amount of cash on draft day and can yield some interesting prospects (low risk, high reward athletic types or seasoned college players who lack upside). So useful but not much trade value. Can pay anywhere from $250k to $1.5mil for the pick depending on low to high end of middle 2nd round. Usually a couple of sellers. Useful and good to have but good chance you can get your guy on draft day by buying a pick in that range.

Low second rounders are fairly useless as assets. Overwhelming majority do nothing. Rare to get someone who can stay in the league and even rarer to get someone who can be more than a third stringer. Not worth much. Easy to buy and cheap to buy on draft day if you want one. No point going out of your way to get one before draft day when so readily available and cheap.

That is how I would value 2nd rounders.

They got marginally better which is good for us, right?  If they make the playoffs next year we get their pick.  Granger is by far the best player of the bunch.  Turner is a bricklayer.
You haven't seen Granger play lately, have you?

2nd rnd picks are worthless.

Tell that to Tell that to
Willis Reed
Dennis Rodman
Manu GINOOOBLIII
Gilbert Arenas
Carlos Boozer
Marc Gasol
Monta Ellis
Paul Milsap
Varejao

Regardless even if they don't draft with them, they can still be used as a sweetener for any trade.

These guys are also saying hello.

Isaiah Thomas (SAC)
Chandler Parsons
Danny Green
Lance Stephenson

I wouldnt say that they went and got a haul, but they got some good returns for players whos not even part of their future.

Thats solid.

are all those second round picks in this years draft? i totally want to see a team buy 5-10 second round picks and just draft every single international player who will be staying overseas for at least 1 more season. having the rights to a player without paying them money or using a roster spot. you have 5-10 of them and there are very good odds 1 of them becomes a rotation caliber player or better. plus its not my money, and its not money that directly effects a teams ability to get players now. so yeah i want to see say Cuban spend ~$20+ million and essentially play roulette.

Ainge should have followed suit and could learn a thing from Hinkle. He should have given away Bass Green and Hump for 2nds if he absolutely had to. You need to look at the future and Ainge failed miserably today. You mean to tell me Bass couldn't have gotten back the same haul as Hawes? You can find a lot of good players in the 2nd round. Marc Gasol, BBD, Rodman, Boozer...list goes on and on. Ainge gets an F for today.

Philly is probably going to be terrible for a few years. You can't win with a bunch of 19-21 year olds in the NBA.

Well, obviously that is Hinkie's goal.

They have MCW, Noel, perhaps Young, and a couple of lottery picks this season to build around moving forward, plus a bunch more picks coming down the pike.  They'll be terrible for a few years and I guess their hope is that they can follow the OKC plan.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

No, I haven't.  Saw the first couple games back from injury and he looked like he was on his way to recovery.  Is he really washed up at 30?

I've seen enough of Evan Turner.  Don't care for his game at all.

I thought Monta Ellis was a first rounder, albeit late first round??

Low second rounders probably have about a 10% chance of developing into a useful rotation player.  It's like a lottery ticket, but more like some sort of Pick 3 game rather than the Powerball.  It's an opportunity to get something useful for cheap that you can pry away from someone who is biased towards relying on veteran "proven" talent.

40th overall in the 2005 draft.

The second round that year included Brandon Bass (33), Ersan Ilyuasova (26), Ronny Turiaf (37), Von Wafer (39), Monta Ellis (40), Lou Williams (45), Andray Blatche (49), Ryan Gomes (50), Amir Johnson (56), and Marcin Gortat (57).

Special mention goes to David Lee, who was the 30th and final pick of the first round.

That was the year the Celtics drafted Gerald Green and Orien Greene.

Ainge should have followed suit and could learn a thing from Hinkle.

It's Hinkie. Sam Hinkie.

He should have given away Bass Green and Hump for 2nds if he absolutely had to.

Ah, but he didn't have to trade Bass or Green today. There's Draft Night, and then this coming offseason, and then next season. Finding a trade partner for Humphries would have been quite difficult: assuming the return wouldn't have been toxic for the Celtics.

You need to look at the future and Ainge failed miserably today.

Again, there's no need to make a bad trade today for the sake of making a deal.

You mean to tell me Bass couldn't have gotten back the same haul as Hawes?

Perhaps Cleveland liked Hawes more than Bass? Bass also costs his new team more than $6 million next year. Hawes is a FA. The difference in price tags can't be ignored.

You can find a lot of good players in the 2nd round. Marc Gasol, BBD, Rodman, Boozer...list goes on and on.

Finally, something I can agree with you about.

Ainge gets an F for today.

And, we're back. If you really think Ainge could have traded tens of millions of dollars worth of contracts today by snapping his fingers, you need to lower the curve a bit.

That was a loaded 2nd round and by loaded I mean, role/ bench players. Pretty good for a 2nd round draft.
