So Parsons is a free agent after next year (team option for next season at under $1 MM). How big of a deal do you think he will command? How much would you be willing to pay if we got him?

It would be better for anybody that has Parsons, and can throw some money his way to do it as soon as next season. There is no way he should be making 1 million a less a year.  He is worth 5-7 million a year, easily

If Green is getting paid 9m Parsons is worth at least that... On a team with him as a top option I think he can really break out, almost like Harden, though I doubt at that level. Still I'd only feel comfortable getting him for Rondo if we got high firsts back which I see no way of that happening... just me personally

Yeah that's a really bad haul for Rondo and Green.

FWIW I consider T Jones considerably more valuable than Green - better, younger player on a much better contract.

Also massive cap room after next year.

I get wanting more for Rondo, but turning Green into Jones is a pretty big part of this IMO.

The Rockets are a terrible trade partner... I feel like a trade involving Rondo would only be worth it if you at least got Parsons and on top of that high first rounders, which the Rockets  don't have... any other trades would be a joke, and the idea that Morey wouldn't include Parsons in a deal for Rondo is a sad. Unless something really changes here like a 3rd team gets involved I'll bet this goes nowhere. DA is not a stupid man

Rondo + Green for Asik,Lin, Parsons, 2014 1st , 2016 1st  works for me. I hope it happens

Asik, Lin, Jones, Smith or Beverly, 2014 1st

for

Rondo, Bass, Pressey (since he would likely be waived anyway)

I think this is a reasonable trade.  Not a homerun, but certainly solid value even without Parsons.

If we're getting back someone who's likely to be a top level player then it's a reasonable trade. Who are we getting that fits the bill?

Why would a team trade for Rondo and give the celts a top level player back in return??

When have you ever seen that happen in basketball?

Guys like Williams, Harden were traded for picks and prospects.  What makes Rondo so much better then them, that we deserve to get back alot more?

What's the motivation for trading Rondo, aside from your wanting him off the roster? Do we just want to make the team worse? Both of those teams would have been better if they'd kept the stars they traded away. They were pretty much forced to make the trades they did. We don't have to.

So far near the deadline only one trade finalized. At this rate, it could be the quietest trade deadline yet.

Everyone wants picks but nobody willing to give it up

I thought the 76rs would make alot more noise as well as the Jazz.  These teams are risking losing Turner and Hayward for nothing
I thought Turner is a FA and Hayward is a RFA

Williams would not make Utah better. Utah did a good job trading him (injury prone), its just they haven't been able to capitalize afterwards.

Harden had to go bc OKC couldn't afford him.

Regardless if these had no choice, lots of teams were interested in both. None were willing to give up a top player in return though.  you are not going to get Harden back for Rondo and i think thats what you want

If I'm trading RR to Houston i would demand Parson, T Jones, Asik and 2014 1st. If not, I'm moving on.
If they want us to take Lin, they are taking back Bass.
If they agree to this im taking the deal.
Green 18!

I agree that you need both Parsons and Jones in the deal if you aren't getting a high pick back which you aren't... Seriously Rondo is a really valuable player, it would be an instant big 3 for the Rockets. I hope Rondo isn't traded but if you're going to trade him, get back as much as you can

they are both RFA , teams are going to offer them nice contracts and likely the jazz/76rs won't match.

Although I don't think Houston does this one, swapping Wallace for Green is possible:

Rondo, Wallace, Faverani
for
Lin, Asik, Jones, $3M, two 1st rounders

Sheds the worst contract (Wallace) for the best one (Jones) and we still have tradeable assets in Bass, Humphries and Green.

Lin / Bayless
Bradley / Bayless
Green / Jones
Sullinger / Jones / Bass
Asik / Sullinger / Humphries

Where does T Jones fit in the equation for the celts?? We already have Sullinger and KO

Say no to Morey's "genius backloaded contracts"... I knew Morey has Celtics connections, but his CelticBlog connections have to be huge. Why are so many people willing to help him out of his own trap?

Wallace+Bass+Clippers pick for Asik+Lin+Jones+ Rockets 2014 pick

Asik and Lin will be untradeable next season until the trade deadline, so you're going to pay them most of their hyperinflated salaries. Morey is the one trying to delete his "genius" mistake. It's his problem, we don't need to trade, so we can (and have to) ask for the Moon.

Asik is a good defensive Center. Not worth 15M next season
Lin is a great 6th man/3rd guard. Not worth 15M next season

Rondo is better than any Rockets player. Not trading him for those.

Parsons is a good wing, but his defense is not that good. At his rookie salary he's a steal, but I'd rather keep Green than extending Parsons for 6-7M/year.

Terrence Jones is a great prospect, but PFs are dime a dozen. Good asset, but not enough, so we swap 2015 Clippers pick for the Rockets 2014 pick.

That's a lot to ask for, but it's the Rockets who need to make a deal... They want more, ok, good luck with that.

As a prospect, a young up and coming pf. Good asset for trades

I agree to an extent, but saying Rondo is better than every Rox player is a stretch. It's widely debatable or at all if Rondo is better than Harden or Howard. We would like to think Rondo is better, and I'm sure the Rox thinks they are better than Rondo. But all the other things you mentioned I agree 100% with.

Lin and Asik are vastly overpaid and not worth us trading for with the expense of Rondo.
