With all these Rondo rumors recently, who really is the best trading partner for the Celtics?  In other words, IF (and that's a big if) the celtics would move him who would be the most ideal team to trade with when it comes to getting assets in return?

I see plenty of teams are interested, but do those teams really have the appropriate assets to make a trade? I guess it all comes down to value and how the Celtics value Rondo versus how other teams value him. What do you think?

in terms of assets, ironically, i think the Sixers have the most to give. they just wouldn't be interested.

The Celtics.

They have some great assets to build a contender around Rondo.

what he said - I want to ride out the season with Rondo, probably next season as well. We have tons of draft picks and I want to see who we pick this year and how he meshes with Rondo

No 2014 pick is likely going to mesh with rondo in one year. Guys like wiggins, parker if we got one of them are still so young. The best way this van work is if danny got another ray allen, kg etc using our picks etc. But i cant see that happening.

I agree with both of you. Just thought I'd post since the interest of many teams has seemed to spike

Jazz, bobcats, raptors, pelicans. Jazz would be awsome lots of young pieces and picks. Maybe theyd want to cashin and bring in a fringe star.

while this is true, are you going to trade Rondo for another lotto pick this year. Having 2 young players is hard even if they are good. They probably aren't mature enough to mesh that quickly. Look at the Cavaliers with Irving and Waiters. Though they are not drafted in the same year, both of those players are spoiled and I honestly think, Waiters will be traded ultimately. If we have Parker and Embiid, or Smart. They both want to prove themselves, and we might end up trading one away in the future.

I rather keep Rondo as the captain, leader and veteran to at least lead this team.

I don't think there is a good trade partner for Rondo at this point in time.

I don't think there is strong market for Rondo due to (1) a large number of quality PGs currently in the league (2) at 27, Rondo is right in his prime and doesn't make sense for many rebuilding teams + most contending teams don't have enough available trade assets to make a good offer. So, I think the market is pretty small for Rondo right now.

I think the rumored SAC deal was the best from the Celtics perspective that I have seen (McLemore, Thomas, 2 picks).

I think the team Rondo would help the most is Houston.  If you start with Asik and Parsons, something is possible but doesn't seem real likely.

A draft night deal is beginning to seem more likely than a deadline deal, at least based on the so called rumors.

I am not against trading Rondo for a good deal.

Desperation. McHale "had" to get something for Garnett. Simple as that.

Ainge does not "have" to get anything for Rondo. He can give him the max deal if he wants in 2015. He can trade him this summer. Ainge is in the driver's seat for a little while anyway.

Ainge needs someone desperate. The Lakers are desperate. Rondo IMO is a good fit in LA. Be reminded the Lakers really want the kid which puts them in the "overpay." column. Gasol to someone for a #1 (long shot). LA #1 pick and another #1 pick and salaries for Rondo.

This is a good way to value Rondo. A team that truly wants him. Bryant wants him on the team...etc. Say the fakers get still another #1...they offer both #1's to Ainge without blinking. They know that a 19 year old isn't going to bring them anywhere soon.

This is the deal Rondo would take as LA will give him max money and he gets to the playoffs...maybe.

Should Ainge trade Rondo to the Lakers for #1's?

I am in the "horse for a horse" group. Lakers don't really have an all star for our all star thus, no. I am against trading Rondo for 19 year olds.

Sac is desperate to be viable in west, they offer the world for Rondo...Rondo sez "no I won't re-sign 2015."

So, WT heck is he saying with that? "I want to stay here and be lousy for the next couple of years..."

"I want to test free agency?"

If the latter is the case the language would be "trade me while I still can get you something in return..."

Every competent GM has a potential "Rondo scenario" in front of him now. He has to, it is his job. Rondo brings his team to the next level. A GM must always work to make his team better.

Hope Rajon remains in Green as I have seen nothing, but kids in return....kids don't win big games, they struggle, they develop, they might be good. No thanks.

Teams who might logically have interest AND do have the right kind of assets to get it done:

1) Charlotte
2) Toronto
3) Utah
4) Bucks

I'd also add Orlando as borderline. I suspect the Lakers (like the Knicks) would love to have Rondo but their pick / young player assets picture is ugly.

The Lakers.

Rondo might actually want to re-sign there. If they made an offer on par with Sacramento's, that would be exciting.

If not, I'm excited to keep Rondo. He looks amazing, and it's really exciting to see that he's been working on his shooting mechanics while his legs were coming back.

Of course, they'd have to go out and find us picks by trading Gasol first!

Utah and Milwaukee?  Huh?

Those teams are farther away from competing next year than we are.
