I have to take these 4

1. Wilt
2. Russ
3. MJ
4. Bird/Magic

Sorry but I just dont know enough about the Big O. My friends dad worked for him in Cincinnati and I know he was great but the other 4 I know more about.

Bird and Magic together saved the league and were equally great with arguments for who was better possibly won be either player.

Oh yeah, Wilt's 48.5 minutes a game average is indeed a marvel but it's not as impressive as averagine 50 a game. Wilt was the best athlete to ever play pro basketball though.

All you need to know about Robertson is that he is the only player that has ever averaged a triple-double. He also came 1 or less rpg/apg short of averaging that on four other occasions. 12 all-star games, 11 all-NBA team selections, led the league in both assists and scoring one season.

So at first I was going to do a generation type Rushmore part one and two
Jerry west
Bill Russell
Wilt chamberlain
Oscar Robertson

Michael Jordan
Larry bird
Magic Johnson
Kareem Abdul jab bar
(Sorry Akeem)

Red should really be considered.
To me all time.....
Wilt
Then I'm really not sure.  Jordan sounds good but the calls or lack of or carries makes it hard.
I do like the idea of two face bird/magic!

This is mine:

Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Oscar Roberston
Michael Jordan

I would agree with this list.  For all of you youngsters out there, Wilt Chamberlain has 72 NBA records, 68 of which he holds by himself.

Totally agree about Chamberlain. Really do not think you can take a list like this without him seriously.

Hard to compare eras, but his numbers are just crazy. I have not seen a player since, with that kind of strength and athleticism combined. Even his turnaround bank shot was Duncan like and his was finger rolling before Gervin and he probably weighed 300+.

I loved Bill Russell's interview recently with Simmons. He said Wilt called him cursing and said "did you see this?" when Sports Illustrated put Rodman on the their cover with the caption ...... "Best rebounder of All Time?"

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
The Easy Three, as LeBron said.

Magic, MJ, Legend.

My fourth would be Kareem. I want to put Russel in here with his 11 championships and all, but Kareem for me bumped up (just a bit but enough) because of his scoring record and dominance.

Just me.

Before I clicked onto this thread, I said to myself Russell, Wilt, Big O and MJ.  I think this is absolutely the NBA Mt. Rushmore.
