Celtics Mt. Rushmore:

Russell/Red
Cousy
Cowens
Pierce

NBA:

Russell
Wilt
Bird/Magic
Jordan
Just so you know you forgot mr bird on celtics list

No I didn't ;D
Green faith you have shocked me!  And I love Dave cowens.  Larry bird dominated the league for a three year or so period.
I'm going to sit down and have a glass of wine!

I think a lot of this depends on whether you are talking about the 4 greatest players to ever lace them up or the 4 players that have won the most championships.

Or the 4 greatest contributors to the NBA which might not necessarily be players at all.

None of them would be, actually. Aside from Jordan.

However we all know that's not the common use of the phrase, nor was it the way LeBron used it in that interview/Q&A

This thread has reminded me that I would really like to visit Rushmore in person.

Well, that point is certainly arguable.

Off the top it'd have to be Naismith, Joseph Carr, Abe Saperstein, and probably David Stern.

Wilt, Russ, Magic and Bird

Sorry, no MJ.

Wilt had Russ and Magic had Bird.

There were NO great players to challenge Jordan in his prime. If Lenny Bias lived and Jordan still did what he did, Jordan for sure.

Blows my mind Russell isnt on some peoples. Is 11 rings not enough? yes his competition wasnt as fierce, but you cant knock a guy from the era he played in.

Andrew Bynum said that when he retires, he should be one of 4 players on a NBA Mt. Rushmore..He said he would have Dennis Rodman,Isaiah Rider, Allen Iverson, and Ron Artest  ...Question is, who would u have? Pick only 4 now!!

Only four?

Robertson, Jordan, Russell, Kareem.

But that's an arbitrary limit - LeBron actually said that you'd need to make space for a fifth head, not that he should be one of the four.
agreed, but would replace kareem with bird.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Too many top players to have 4 clearly better than the rest so I'll go with my 4 favorite superstars. Oscar, Isiah, Larry and Hakeem.

Isiah as a player only, obviously.
