I want no part of Smith. Really feel the lightbulb is never going to go on.

yea. there isn't even a lightbulb there to turn on

If Gerald Wallace can be cashed in for Josh Smith then you make this trade. Doesn't matter if you think a light bulb will go off or not

I'm not a fan of Smith, but $13.5 mill per year for him is good value... that said, that's for previous Josh Smith type of production. This year he's been quite pathetic so I would hesitate to make a move for him. I'd rather take my chances elsewhere.

Check out his SF/PF splits at 82games.com.  He's still the same Josh Smith at the 4, he's just a terrible 3.

Smith reminds me so much of Kenyon Martin.

Smith reminds me of Antoine Walker with better defense and more frustrating offense.

Antoine led the league in 3's taken several years i  a row. I get the comparison cause i xould just see Smith  booed here like Toine did but i dont know about more frustrating offense

As terrible a player josh smith is and as much of a knucklehead as he is I would still love Josh Smith on this team. And trading Wallace and Bogans for him is an absolute no brainer.

Except there is absolutely zero reason to believe Detroit would give us Smith for Wallace. None. It makes no sense for Detroit.

If you offer Humphs expiring and a draft pick then maybe, but would you give up salary cap relief and a pick to pay Josh Smith's contract?

Pau has been on the trading block for the past two seasons. Maybe LA could be a good spot for him? But with D'Antoni as the coach, I am not sure how it would work out.

Philly could be another team that might make some sense. Evan Turner + Jason Richardon. Turner is an expiring contract and Richardon has another year left.

He is a power forward period.  Get past the bad shot selection.  If he is coming to boston are you ready to start him over sully?  Sully is the pf of future.  Smith is a rim protector and a very good defensive player.  Green might be inconsistent but he's efficient.  Could smith come to boston and play within himself?  If the deal is Wallace for smith straight up then you have to do it.  Bass is moved, hump is as well (even though I'd like him around).  A true center comes in, smith off the bench as combo forward?  Sully starts?  I don't think smith can play sf if he could green could be part of a package.  It's to bad smith is good passer, very good defender, rebounder justs seems to be Antoine part II

That's hyperbole.  Toine was on another level of chucking - 19.3 shots a game on 41% shooting in his Boston tenure and 16.5 for his career.  Smith has never averaged more than 16.7 and is at 13 for his career, and his career FG% is 46%.

Seriously, check out Kenyon Martin's numbers in Jersey.  Their height, their frames, their athleticism, their broken J's, their free throw shooting, their interior passing ability... Very close comparisons.  Martin's always been a little tougher, but Smith's more skilled and healthier.

I think it would be more like Smith and a pick or two for Hump than Hump and a pick for Smith. Det gave him a lot of money and it's hard to see him being seen as being as valuable now as he was before the trade.

I'm somewhat tempted by Smith but not sure I'd want him on that deal. He's a good rebounder and defender and passer, but his shot selection is rough. He's a very good inside scorer but poor from the outside. What you'd have to do is tell him he's not allowed to shoot any long shots but guarantee him that Rondo will throw him at least 4 lobs a game. He'd go from the next Antione to a possible all-star.

Josh Smith will be more frustrating because he has a wider gulf between how well he could play if was more disciplined and how well he actually plays.  He's more likely to have fans thinking that their team could be a legitimate contender if he played with his head on straight, so it will feel even worse when he predictably doesn't.

Frustration ultimately doesn't matter much.  Results wise, Smith has been much better than Toine.  Better D, better O.  This is the first year they've been comparably negative and that's because Smith has been playing out of position.
