Until Smith can control his shot selection he'll always be a high risk, high reward players.

I do think it is within him, but he needs to be on the 'right' team.  Allow him to be a defensive anchor from the PF position, and surround him with shooters and a solid PG, and I think a good and well-respected coach could get his full potential out of him.

The more likely scenario is that he'll always be the way he is.  A shot happy misfit on mediocre teams.

A friendship with Rondo is not equal to instant court chemistry.

They played high school basketball together. So I'm sure they will have on court chemistry, BUT, I don't want JSmoove on my team!

If they take Gerald Wallace, and give up an expiring idk why Danny wouldn't do it for green. But aside from that . Don't do it, I was all for smith this offseason but I was trying to field a winning team. At this point not worth it. Especially to start smith at the PF, I rather have Sullinger at that spot.

Lineup is terrible on offense.

Only way Smith makes sense is if we trade sully a couple picks and Avery for a star and then green and something for smith.

Smith needs to play power forward, because at the 3 it inclines him to shoot, and we don't want smith shooting.

Josh Smith is a bad fit for a young coach who hasn't built up a great reputation yet.  I'm not sure anyone can force Smith to be disciplined, but at this point in his career, Stevens probably isn't that guy.

I suspect that Smith would not react well to being benched or having his minutes decreased by someone like Stevens.  Is Stevens the sort of coach who will do that to someone like Smith?

The main hope here would be Rondo being able to control Smith's shot selection for him, by only passing him the ball in his actual 'range'.  The problem with that is, of course, I think Rondo works best with a PF with legit shooting range (most dribble-drive guards do).

No comments on my trade idea, but isn't Houston looking for a PF to pair with Howard, although I'm not sure they are looking for a 4 yr commitment.  The Celtics want a legit defensive C.  The Pistons need a small forward to pair with their front court. 

There would probably have to be a Detroit pick going to Houston as well and filler like Cassipi or Brewer.

I'm probably in the minority that says Green is worth more than Asik but from what most people say this would be a no brainer.

Smith is not the type of PF Houston wants next to Howard. They want a PF that can spread the floor, not one that shoots almost as poorly as Howard.

I'm not a fan of Smith, but $13.5 mill per year for him is good value... that said, that's for previous Josh Smith type of production. This year he's been quite pathetic so I would hesitate to make a move for him. I'd rather take my chances elsewhere.

Smith will always be a frustrating offensive player, but I'd be all over acquiring him if the price was cheap.

Smith reminds me so much of Kenyon Martin.  Amazing transition weapons, versatile if inefficient in the halfcourt, very gifted defenders, fantastic pairings with up-tempo, pass-first PGs.

If we're sticking with Rondo, I'd much rather have Smith starting at the 4 than Sully.
