you cant blame injuries... Sully has been back in action for many months while KO only missed a few weeks of action... They have both played the entire season... even light training and a proper diet will keep your body fat low... I bet (shirts off) they look fat...
Sullinger has a dislocated finger.Olynyk's body fat percentage was apparently about 6%, decent for a big. Also, Olynyk went from a 32 inch vertical to a 39 inch vertical during his redshirt year:o To be able to stay on the floor, play the hardest position (Center), I think Olynyk has been impressive. Keep in mind that there are several other power forwards vying for playing time.
This actually brings up a nice counterpoint to those who think Ainge is purposefully tanking. AB is out. Sullinger hasn't been himself with injuries. You're talking about a team without two of its best players, with the best player (Rondo) being 60, 70% of himself.
[My theory? FWIW: Ainge is simply stockpiling assets and letting Brad Stevens (and the young ones), not caring what the final record indicates since you simply can't hope to out-tank teams that have had years of mismanagement without damaging yourself. But it's all just theories, Ainge probably has something else in mind.]
Back to Sully and KO. You probably won't be seeing above average athletes in these guys. But I would actually bet they're in decent shape right now. You're talking a rigorous NBA schedule, 24/7 basketball.
When you're talking athleticism, I'd say think Z-Bo, not Bass, KG or even Humphries. Look at their mobility, not their explosiveness.
Also, don't forget, both of them are basically rookies. Sully is having his rookie season part deux. As mention previously, this team has a lot of power forwards. Year 1, year 2 and even some year 3 players won't get much time.
With Sully, he's been playing
very out of position every night at center (in addition to his injury). And with Olynyk, you're talking about a guy who's still only just adjusting to his growth spurt.
Of course, as mentioned in this thread, the roster changes take a lot of adjusting to. Only Sully, Green and AB have played with Rondo. The roster was further broken down after being gutted by BKN. The [insert number] power forwards all need time and, being a young team, consistency is an issue, making playing time uncertain.
