Rondo is a poor free throw shooter.  OMG, when did this happen.  This is the most shocking news EVER.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Rose looked pretty bad when he returned as well..

I dont think rondo is 100% yet. not anywhere near it....which in a way could be good for the C's tanking plans because while he plays like this they will just keep losing games.

Misses two key free throws at the end of the game.

This is why people like myself feel Rondo is not nearly as good as he's made out to be.

It's nice if you can make nifty Harlem Globetrotter like-passes and "get your teammates involved" or "be a great facilitator" (or however the Rondo song and dance goes.)

But if you can't knock down two free throws at the end of the game when you're down by just 4, then where does that leave you?
It leaves you with 11 championships in 13 years, just ask Russell.  Or Shaq, have you at least heard of him?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This goes back to those debates a couple years ago... John Wall vs Rondo.  The argument was that Wall would get as many assists as Rondo if he wasn't surrounded with offensively inept players.  The argument was that Wall had as many assist-qualifying passes as Rondo, his team just didn't convert the shots.

Yes, that was the thrust of the thesis:

Quote
Rondo's missed assists per game number is 7.6, which is far lower than Wall's 9.8 by a wide margin. If you add Rondo's assists with his missed assists (9.6 + 7.6 = 17.2) it's almost exactly the same number of assist opportunities as John Wall (7.6 + 9.8 = 17.4). Rondo's Boston teammates convert 55.9 percent of his assist chances into actual assists, while Wall's Wizards convert only 43.9 percent of his chances.

Granted, this is still a small sample size (two Point Guards for a total of around 60 games), but I believe it starts to show some validity to the argument that Wall would garner more assists with better teammates that can make a higher percentage of shots.

wilt chamberlin really should have his HoF status taken away while we're on the subject.

Yeah, I also wish that Rondo were Russell and Shaq's size. But he isn't. Tough beans.

You should stop watching basketball.  You don't know a thing about it.

So...now do you see why Rondo Celtics fans can be frustrating?

Fixed that title for ya. Unreal that this is even being discussed 3 games in.

That's being discussed for the better part of 3 seasons now. I was hoping he's used the downtime to figure it out, but sadly, we're in for more years of rationalizations about how his "hands are just too large".

Honestly, we're all aware of his FT% and we all agree it should be much better. But, the more important (I think) matter is his how well he comes back from this injury. Being 3 games in, it's still way too early to judge that.

You have been here a lot longer than I and you seem to know your Bball. I know a bit as well. It really has been only 3 games. He said it was about the most awful he's ever played. He's about right. He hates the HEAT as much if not more than any other Celtic ever. I'm sure he's more disappointed than we are. I'm ripping J Green often so maybe I got no energy for Rondo  ;D...but it has been 3 games and The guy who took Courtney Lee's hitch out (according to him) must be on this for everybody's sake.

Calm down, guise... Rondo transforms into a Superstar in the playoffs.

No but really he'll be fine.  He's a solid player.  Top 50 PG for sure.

Chuckle. Too bad you can only give out 1 TP at a time.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I found the .gif amusing too.  I have to say, though, LarBrd33 is really on the top of his troll game in this thread.

Hey, I am not saying that it is Rondo's fault that he is not ready or not 100% but that last game was so bad that I am questioning why the team has him out there.

That game was more than the level of bad where you brush it off and say, "he is just rusty".  I know we have roster shortages but I hope that isn't why they would push Rondo to be on the court before he is ready (which it appears he is not).

So now what.  How much should the team allow Rondo to work through Rust.  If he has that much rust, could it be that he is not fully healed (the doctors must think he is).  It just doesn't seem as though he should be that bad when you think of other players who come back from injuries all the time.

Rondo is absolutely ready to be out there, he just isn't in game shape and may never be the athlete he was pre-injury.
