  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Paul Pierce ties Cousy for most years as Celtics captain. That is pretty awesome. Didn't know that. He's coming back to Boston and he's gonna work under Danny Ainge. It makes too much darn sense.

maybe i'm reading too much into this but this whole captain thing just seems a little odd to me.

1st, I figured rondo would have already been named a team captain. that alone to me is odd.

but then the kia citizen award seemed a little too convenient.

I really think danny is shopping rondo without trying to say "i'm shopping rondo".

I am convinced he hasn't been actively pursuing anything involving rondo(that would be considered showing his hand).

but I am really starting to believe there's a lot of interest from other teams that are reluctant. maybe because the asking price is too high?

i'm thinking naming rondo "team captain"(when he already should've been) is danny's way of saying to other teams - "I have no interest in dealing rondo"....."rondo is going no where"....."unless my terms are met".

scheduling the kia award on the same night. danny's way of showing teams - "look at the kind of person you're getting".

it's all too convenient.

You're missing the fact that Stevens stated earlier this yr that he wasn't naming a Captain for the team and that he usually doesn't. The Kia award isn't something that the Celtics give..it's something that the NBA awards every month. The NBA could care less about helping Ainge "showcase" Rondo.

I agree with the bolded part.

No matter what the ultimate reason and end result, Rondo deserves the Captain designation and I am happy about that decision.

If he is captain for 10 years and brings us a few more titles along the way, Great!

If this leads to some crazy, desperate team overpaying Danny with picks/players and something along the lines of the infamous Herschel Walker trade, than great as well.

Either way, it was the right move and a great one to make at this point in time.

PS- It was great to see Rondo back on the court yesterday and his second stint on the floor was classic Rondo!
