Either way if the Celtics have 7-10 they're probably trading up for 4 or 3 somehow.

in this draft it won't likely be possible.

For the Hawks/Nets pick, depending where it is, I'd look at Mitch McGary if he enters the draft.  He's out this year due to back surgery, but if he were healthy, he'd be in the 7-15 range of the draft, if that doesn't sound familiar.  He's a little closer to being a true center than Jared Sullinger (a couple inches taller and a little more agile, although he's still not a true 7-footer 6'10"-6'11", compared to Sully's 6'9").  He's a good overall rebounder/great offensive rebounder, and has the best outlet passing I've seen in college since Kevin Love (although Kevin Love was the best outlet passer I've seen ever. I don't get to watch Minnesota play -- does he still do that?  I used to stay up late just to see him grab a rebound and pass it to a streaking Aaron Afflalo beyond mid-court in one motion.  It was a thing of beauty).  Anyway, McGary isn't Love when it comes to outlet passing, but it's a real skill that doesn't show up on box scores, since it doesn't generally lead to assists.  He's also a very good passer from the high post, and is elite at stealing the ball, especially for a big.  His free throw shooting is mediocre, but improved this year before he got hurt, and he isn't as skilled at scoring as Sully.

The thing he needs to work on most is defensive positioning.  He's got the physical ability to play great defense, as indicated by his steals, blocks, and rebounds, but he's very aggressive, and susceptible to falling for the first move a player makes, or trying to jump a passing lane and not being able to get back in time.  I think some of that can be fixed, as he gains more experience against players who have multiple moves down low, which you never see in high school, and don't see every night in college.  Some of that you don't want to fix, as his aggression/energy is part of what makes him special.  But it's where he needs to improve the most, and what will keep him on the bench in the NBA (aside from health), if he doesn't.

But if his back checks out to the Celtics doctors at the combine, he's worth picking.  If the Atlanta/Brooklyn pick is in the teens, he might be worth trading down for, as I don't see him going earlier than 20.
Not really sure about McGary. As I am sure you know he played at Brewster his senior year. Fourth best player on that team, even though he started the season as number one ranked HS player in country.

I saw him a lot in person, as most of his games were within a few hours from Boston. Noel just killed him head to head in all three games they played. One was on ESPN and McGary shot 1 for 8. McGary literally could not get off a shot against Noel.

Unbelivable high motor though, looks and acts just like Tebow! I think best case is a Nick Collision type upside. McGary, can really run the floor and has nice mid range shooting form. Not sure what long term back situation is though and I wonder how long he can play as hard as he does.

A team wouldnt take Rondo and the 7th for the 3rd pick?

Also please remember that...

I would go Vonleh at 7 and pair him with Sully.  That would be nice.  At 22, can I add PJ Hairston to the list?  Kind of a knucklehead but he would have been an All-American this year if he didn't get suspended.  He joined the D-League this week.  Roy Williams said that he was the most dominate practice player he has EVER had this year.  He is a knock down shooter and he plays real hard.  Ideal 2 / 3 in the NBA, he will have a long NBA career...
I think Vonleh will play S/F in the NBA. He played the wing with Mass Rivals and at New Hampton School. Good shooter and ball handler and has played point forward most of his life. He reclassified so he really should still be in HS. Vonleh has also grown 3 inches in last 18 months, but added 30 pounds.

I really think Indiana was a bad choice for him. He had Olivier Hanlan and Travis Jorgansen as his point guards in HS. Now he is stuck with the black hole of point guards in Yogi Ferrell. Crean has just put him at the 5 because they have no size.

Saw an interview this summer with him and he said that he expected to play the 3 and 4 at Indiana. Whoops. Problem is Crean will not let him leave the paint and he is playing with a shoot first point guard. Think he could be getting 20 and 10 if Crean took the ball and chain off. I see why Trey Lyles decommited now.

FWIW, Noah works as hard as any player in the country and is a great kid.

I doubt McBuckets is still around at 22.  In fact I'm sure he won't be.

I'm at a loss why people use NBADraft.net. One look at their historic mocks should be enough to tell you how much stock to put in it.

If either of Emblid, Wiggins, Randle, Parker, Exum fell to 7 you take which ever of those, but im pretty confident that will be the top 5. If im a GM and convinced Aaron Gordon can play the 3 (im not) then I take Gordon. Otherwise its gotta be best player available and in that case I trade the pick. At that spot the best player available will either be a PG or a PF and those 2 positions are just so easy to come by in the NBA.

At 22 Id take Sam Decker. And ya I think hes going to fall to 22.

I watched a few clips of Vonleh going at it vs Wiggins and there are moments where Vonleh is frozen while Wiggins dances around him for buckets.  This is not the case when it was Wiggins vs Gordon

Vonleh like nbadraft.net has put it, is like another Jared Jeffries (better version). Good size, smooth athlete, decent all around skills, but not one that stands out, no killer instinct, passive.

We need more players with Killer Instincts. These are the guys who close out games. So thats why i oppose to grabbing Vonleh unless its with our 22nd.

I like Gordon, but he might be gone by 7th. Hood looks like a decent player, like a Aaron Afflalo type, but not someone who can take over games.

Mcdermott is a wildcard type.  He has improved his scoring, stats every year in college. Looks like is running on the court 24/7. Must be horrific to try to guard him.  He has something special about him, but defensive capabilities are a concern. It will be tough times for Danny at 7-10 area

At 7 I would pick whoever is left of Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Smart, Exum, Randle and Gordon.

At 22 I would be looking at Selden, Isaiah Austin, Dekker Herrel or Ennis.

Draftexpress has LaVine and Anderson from UCLA going in the second round. I don't see this sticking, but if it does I think either would be a steal at that spot (especially LaVine)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

As a franchise, I don't see us allowing this to happen. It will be the 2007 draft all over again, where Doc admitted we would've selected Yi Jianlian with the 5th pick that draft. Can you all imagine that?

There is quite a big drop off after the first 6 guys. If we are not getting one of Embiid, Parker, Randle, Exum, Smart or Wiggins, then we should look to trade the pick.

I am astounded by some of the names being thrown about as well as which mock draft we're all referring to.

Using chad fords top 100 from espn, draftexpress, or sports illustrated is the best thing to do. Or even Walter Football's 2014 NBA mock draft.

seventh pick?

I don't like Aaron Gordon.  He reminds me of Jeff Green. He's good, but he leaves a lot to be desired.  Plus his advanced stats aren't very good.

I would be fine with either Noah Vonleh, Willie Cauley Stein, or Zach LaVine. If we don't get the 7th pick and these guys are gone, I'm fine with Montrezl Harrell. Jerami Grant kind of intrigues me, but I'm wary of nearly every player from Syracuse because of their zone defense.

I'm not a big fan of Dario Saric.  Rodney Hood is too old and needs the ball in his hands too much.  Gary Harris' advanced stats give him away both this year and last year as being overhyped.  Doug McDermott is a role player. James Young is so overhyped it's unbelievable.  His advanced stats just show him to be a poor overall player.  Wouldn't touch him. You can find another Sam Dekker anywhere so I wouldn't take him.

The 22nd pick?

Earlier in the year I was thinking UCLA's Kyle Anderson, but he is JUST TOO SLOW, even if his advanced stats how him as a beast in the NCAA.  I don't think he'll do too well in the NBA.  I wouldn't even think of touching Isaiah Austin.  LeBryan Nash apparently has attitude problems, but I would at least take a look at him. I would take a look at Alex Poythress too, but with these last two, I'd do my homework.

I would probably grab Shabazz Napier.  He's just having too good of a year.  End of story.  I would think of grabbing Thanasis Antetokounmpo because he reminds me of Tony Allen with his hustle; Glenn Robinson III because of his potential, and his efficiency last year... I wouldn't grab Mitch McGary unless I did A LOT of research on his back problems and possibility of it affecting him moving forward...  But yeah - Shabazz Napier.

Chris Walker for some reason keeps coming to mind as a player i see Danny taking a risk with we miss out on the top 6.

The guy has immense physical tools plus SF like skills. At 6'10, 7'2 wingspan its very intriguing

Then again there are also guys like Perry Jones who is also like Walker but is struggling so far.

I hope Walker gets to play this year so we can see what he can do, his motor, mental stability , defense + offense

I'm not a big fan of Dario Saric.

He's a 6'10" SF with handle playing in the top Euroleagues since he was 15 and won the 2012 FIBA under 18 championship MVP and won the Croatian League finals MVP a few months ago.  If he somehow got on the Spurs he would be an all-star within 3 years
