I am astounded by some of the names being thrown about as well as which mock draft we're all referring to.
Using chad fords top 100 from espn, draftexpress, or sports illustrated is the best thing to do. Or even Walter Football's 2014 NBA mock draft.
seventh pick?
I don't like Aaron Gordon. He reminds me of Jeff Green. He's good, but he leaves a lot to be desired. Plus his advanced stats aren't very good.
I would be fine with either Noah Vonleh, Willie Cauley Stein, or Zach LaVine. If we don't get the 7th pick and these guys are gone, I'm fine with Montrezl Harrell. Jerami Grant kind of intrigues me, but I'm wary of nearly every player from Syracuse because of their zone defense.
I'm not a big fan of Dario Saric. Rodney Hood is too old and needs the ball in his hands too much. Gary Harris' advanced stats give him away both this year and last year as being overhyped. Doug McDermott is a role player. James Young is so overhyped it's unbelievable. His advanced stats just show him to be a poor overall player. Wouldn't touch him. You can find another Sam Dekker anywhere so I wouldn't take him.
The 22nd pick?
Earlier in the year I was thinking UCLA's Kyle Anderson, but he is JUST TOO SLOW, even if his advanced stats how him as a beast in the NCAA. I don't think he'll do too well in the NBA. I wouldn't even think of touching Isaiah Austin. LeBryan Nash apparently has attitude problems, but I would at least take a look at him. I would take a look at Alex Poythress too, but with these last two, I'd do my homework.
I would probably grab Shabazz Napier. He's just having too good of a year. End of story. I would think of grabbing Thanasis Antetokounmpo because he reminds me of Tony Allen with his hustle; Glenn Robinson III because of his potential, and his efficiency last year... I wouldn't grab Mitch McGary unless I did A LOT of research on his back problems and possibility of it affecting him moving forward... But yeah - Shabazz Napier.
