You took the inflated salary, don't be surprised when the team doesn't have any plans for you in its rotation.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes because Ainge basically is saying you can go home with your money until we trade you..wow.

Yeah, kind of surprised Ainge basically admitted he's looking to trade Bogans.

Not that it's a shocker to us but usually GM's don't admitt that.

Agreed it is a bit blunt. But Ainge isn't saying something secret. He's just saying: we are open to trades. We know Bogans is filler. Everyone else knows this as well.

I doubt there was anything going on behind the scenes. What the difference of Bogans sitting on the bench and not playing or sitting at home. Either way he is still only on our team as a contract to trade.

Same deal as Wallace.  It's gotta be pretty lousy being a vet with not many years left and having to spend it barely even playing on a team going nowhere but the lottery, but that's the price they pay for the bloated paycheck.  Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Wallace I'm more sympathetic to. He signed a long term deal to play with Deron Williams and was on a team that fancied itself a contender and got moved to a lottery team.

Bogans took a payoff for salary cap math, he was free to refuse and be a veteran's minimum guy on a team that planned to use him more.

Not easy for a professional who works hard at his craft to sit. Very hard when everyone else is in the thick of it to just sit back.

This also means that Ainge is happy with the chemistry he has on the bench now. I think it is a good group with nice team dynamic. Bogan's voice not needed.

We've had PLENTY of guys just sitting on the bench that wasn't asked to just go home. Plus they were short handed in the guard position last night and he could have been used. Tommy said last night that Bogans took exception to Marshon getting playing time over him in that Houston game and that his ego was out of joint.

No need to be sympathetic toward Wallace.  I'm sure he could walk away with no money if he wanted to just walk.

He's going to both take the money AND complain, just as Bogans is.  Not getting any tears from me.

Yeah I was kinda shocked with Ainge using the words "chip and asset" when he described Bogans.

As Faf entions above, Bogans can be traded at any point upon completion of the season (if he isn't traded before the deadline), as he has two years remaining on his contract, whih are both fully non-guaranteed.

That fact alone makes Bogans a trade 'chip', as he can be included as salary filler in a trade and allows the team that trades for him to immediately waive him at no additional cost. Contracts like that can be of good value.

I get all of that,I'm just saying you don't usually hear it talked about openly when describing one of your players that's still with the team. We all know what Bogans is here for..he knows as well.
agreed it's not something you usually hear in public but wouldn't be surprised Bogans crossed a line and Danny had to set him straight on what we all know -- he's just here as the filler from the Nets trade and he's filler for the a trade Danny will make some time this season.  I get Bogans wanting to show he's worth another contract (because he knows his next 2 years won't be picked up by anyone) but that's why he received a lot more money than he's worth this year.  otherwise, he'd most likely be out of the league right now and Bogans hasn't come to grips with that assessment yet

Wallace could also approach the team about buying him out.  He might wager that he's a good enough player where he could get signed by somebody else at something like the MLE; if he offered to be bought out for something like $5M or $6M less than he's owed, Danny and ownership might take him up on that.

As to Bogans...  dude, what did you expect?  He'll get Gomes'-ed in the summer, traded as part of a S&T for a free agent in the summer and immediately waived.  At which point, he can start preparing his resume to be the head basketball coach at his old high school.

I'd might feel sympathy for a player who takes something of a discount to stay on a team and then gets traded. That's not the case here.

In the Globe it said that he left the bench during the 2nd half of the Houston game I guess while Marshon was playing ahead of him. He probably had some choice words and I was very suprised to hear Tommy say that Keith's ego was "out of joint".

Maybe Bogans could grudgingly accept sitting on the bench, not happy but understanding the logic of it, and what really set him off was having minutes go to that worthless piece of hot garbage MarShon Brooks, whose crappiness was well-known to Bogans from their time on the Nets together.

And yet people still wonder why players enjoy free agency.

There's probably some merit to this. If you think about a basketball player's daily schedule, that's a whole lot of traveling and inconvenient hours and other assorted BS if you're not even going to be able to play in the game, or go to work, and instead you've got to watch someone who isn't as good at the job do things that will reflect badly on your job performance.

And, before anyone brings it up, how much money he makes and "for that kind of money I'd sit on the bench all smiles" is utterly irrelevant.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
