You took the inflated salary, don't be surprised when the team doesn't have any plans for you in its rotation.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes because Ainge basically is saying you can go home with your money until we trade you..wow.

Bogans knows he is a fringe NBA player right and he is lucky to have a job? I am glad they sent him home, don't need a bad attitude in the locker room when you have a young core.

Yeah, kind of surprised Ainge basically admitted he's looking to trade Bogans.

Not that it's a shocker to us but usually GM's don't admitt that.

He's an expiring contract. Waiving an expiring before the trade deadline is a nuts as you never know if you'll need the salary for matching purposes to acquire talent.

Heck he could be kept after the deadline too, as he's waiveable and not a FA. So he could be used to trade after the season ends IIRC.

agreed. I wonder when and to what team. I think this also has something to do with us signing the CJohnson to a 10 day contract. Bass might be paired with Bogans to make something work.

Yeah I was kinda shocked with Ainge using the words "chip and asset" when he described Bogans.

I don't think Johnson's signing is about anything other than another guard body being needed for practice and emergency minutes.

Ainge didn't sound like anything is imminent to me, just that he's keeping Bogans on the roster to leave all his options open.

He's well overpaid and his entire contract is non-guaranteed after this season. His contract is much more valuable than he is as a player. Everyone knows that.

Me too, was literally about to post that.

I think Danny doesn't really care simply because I think he knows his competitors want Bogans expiring contract, and isn't afraid to say its open on the market as long as you can get something in return.

Plus that could also mean Ainge already has a few deals in place, and just needs to figure which trade would be best to do for the long term.

As Faf entions above, Bogans can be traded at any point upon completion of the season (if he isn't traded before the deadline), as he has two years remaining on his contract, whih are both fully non-guaranteed.

That fact alone makes Bogans a trade 'chip', as he can be included as salary filler in a trade and allows the team that trades for him to immediately waive him at no additional cost. Contracts like that can be of good value.

I get all of that,I'm just saying you don't usually hear it talked about openly when describing one of your players that's still with the team. We all know what Bogans is here for..he knows as well.

Ainge was just being honest to Bogans and to everyone interested in the Boston Celtics.
