Of course he does.  Boston now has his Birds rights.

But would you? And I'm sorry, I'm a little confused when it comes to Birds rights, but I thought it was a certain few years the team can retain the player even beyond the salary cap for a player they drafted? How can we have his Bird rights if hes been traded 4-5 times?

Your Bird rights transfer when traded.  They basically reset every time you sign with a new team as a free agent or if you pass through waivers.

Correct.  And since Boston has Bird rights, it's very possible that the most money he can get from any team this offseason is Boston.  Certainly he needs another free agent suitor to think he'd be willing to stay in Boston, so that they are seen as a viable competitive bidder.

Of course, he may end up liking it here, and certainly he'd been struggling in Memphis.  But it's pretty foolish for any player in a walk year who might not be in the highest of demand to talk about not wanting to stay.  If you're a superstar max-player type, that's one thing.  But if you're Bayless, you say nice things.

Not interested in keeping Bayless. Sub-par defender, poor passer and streaky scorer.

I would like to see a passer behind Rondo at backup PG. Someone who can involve other players better. Tired of all the score-first combo guards of recent years.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Let him finish out the year and see what he's got as an off the bench combo.

Odds are he isn't worth keeping though.

I'm confused by the poll.  You can't ask an or question, and then expect yes or no answers.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Isn't yes or no an or question>?  ???

Do you want him back OR no?
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I think Bayless stays.  I can see him getting a 2years 5million (2.5 per) type of deal.  He's a prototypical 3rd guard who can backup Rondo, he can play off the ball as well....and lets not forget  he's capable of taking and making big shots down the stretch.  valuable piece to a good team.  If Ainge is building a winner then Bayless is likely in his plans

I'd say he's one of the top candidates on the Cs to be traded before the deadline. Plenty of teams could use some backcourt insurance for the playoffs.

His salary is about the same as Brooks+Crawford.  I wonder if Golden State wanted Crawford more, or if Danny wanted more for Bayless.

For one game, yes.

Probably the former: Crawford's had a better season than Bayless, even with his recent slump.

Crawford's the better player.

Maybe through the first half of this year, or perhaps only the first quarter of the year.  Bayless has generally been the better player over his career, and they're the same age.  To me it's not a slam dunk as to which one I'd prefer for the last half of the season.
