“I love the situation,” said Bayless who will become a free agent this summer. “I love the opportunity. I told Brad (Stevens, Boston’s head coach) and I told Danny (Ainge, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations) since I’ve been here, I really want to make this my home for a while. Hopefully I’ll be able to do it.”

Bayless certainly looked comfortable on Monday, scoring 15 of his 17 points off the bench in the fourth quarter of Boston’s 104-92 loss to Houston.

Would l like to find a home? Of course,” he said. “I would love to be here for the rest of my career if I could and find some stability.”

During a post game interview Bradley was asked about what he thought about his newest arrival.

Quote
"He's great, works hard, and is a really nice guy. We were working together during some training drills, and he just seemed very focused. That really does seem to uh, inspire others in the locker room, and to make us push harder."

I would love to keep him. I actually wanted him here too. I think his late game spark off the bench, and ability to make good decisions has always been looked down upon simply cause of his stats. Its hard to do so well when you're in and out of teams, and not looking like you'd be a good piece to keep.

I believe Stevens can make him better, and a lot of Grizzlies/Blazers were disappointed he left. The chemistry, and the genuine nobility this guy shows to the community is also great. I believe he does have similar traits to Crawford, but from my experience watching him for 3 years in and out games, he does seem to play a little smarter.

What do you guys think?

But would you? And I'm sorry, I'm a little confused when it comes to Birds rights, but I thought it was a certain few years the team can retain the player even beyond the salary cap for a player they drafted? How can we have his Bird rights if hes been traded 4-5 times?

if he shows he's a solid backup-quality PG behind Rondo, I'd be fine with resigning him in the offseason to a reasonable (cheap) deal.

See the thing is Bayless probably doesn't want that much money. He just wants stability. We can afford to ink him to him at least 3-4 year deal as long as it isn't over 4 mil. If its something like 12/4 I can live with it. For a solid back up PG/SG that can create his shot, and create for others, why not? Preferably  I would do 10/4 and see if he can bring his friend Gasol over here ;).

We think alike my friend.

I think we need more of a sample size - that is, the rest of the season - because this is very similar to what people were saying about Crawford at the start of the season.  If he's looking for a four year deal, I don't think that's worth it - long-term deals are really hard to move and shouldn't just be handed out to any player.

He has potential but has to be consistent. Play with urgency 247 instead of wanting to be a hero and taking his game to another level

His stats sb at 44-45 for fg and or 35 per plus for 3s.

He could be a good backup for a long time like barera or foye who is finally playing well

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
And I would love him to stay, for the correct price.

He's going to be an excellent backup PG and a SG to some extent.

Your Bird rights transfer when traded.  They basically reset every time you sign with a new team as a free agent or if you pass through waivers.

if the contract is right, I would love to have him here. hard worker and definitely contributing right away. Him backing up Rondo/Bradley is excellent.

It all depends on the contract of course, but I have always been a fan of his potential to be a Jamal Crawford type off the bench.  I think it would be a great situation for him backing up Rondo, and he could do well to stay here on a short, make-good contract.

I've always liked Bayless. From the sounds of it, Danny has wanted to acquire him for some time. I like the potential 3-guard rotation of Rondo/Bradley/Bayless.

i like bayless and im glad we dont have to watch him kill us anymore. i would like to see him run the offense a little better before committing our backup pg minutes to him for the future.
