LOW SEED FOR EMBIID

Well we currently have the 4th seed.
Rondo's return = not a top 5 pick by seasons end

by real, I mean 4's and 5's, not wings masquerading at the big forward spot.

I'd agree only I don't think we'll have this current squad after the deadline. I see some trades coming down the line

I keep on seeing this in a lot of threads on CB. Even if Rondo comes back, the Celtics will still be lottery bound. They have difficulty scoring and they can't defend in the paint anymore. They just aren't a very well constructed team at the moment. Too many SG's and PF's. Legitimately ZERO centers and they truly lack a consistent go to scorer (Uncle Sleepy certainly isn't it).

And Rondo is coming back from a serious knee injury and will probably won't play a full workload for at least a few weeks. And even then, I don't think he'll be back to his normal self. Rose looked like crap earlier on in the year and he took the entire year off last year to get back to 100%. For a player whose game is predicated on speed/agility, Rondo might be affected more. We will see I guess.

Also, more moves are coming. Bass/Crawford/Green/Bradley are all possible candidates to be moved. Maybe not all, but certainly a couple of those guys will not be on this team in a few weeks.

So, unless Rondo grows about 8 inches and puts on 70 lbs and learns to score at an elite level and defend the paint, opposing bigs will continue to have a pants party  against the Celtics down low and the they will continue to struggle to consistently score in games.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: Embiid

It would make for a very difficult decision if the C's somehow find themselves at the top of the lottery and get to pick from the "cream of the crop" of this draft. Embiid has tantalizing potential. He looks so fluid for a guy that is relatively new to the game. I wouldn't want to be in Danny's shoes if he had to choose between Parker/Embiid/Wiggins etc. I like Parker but I worry that at his size if he will ever be a good defender as he isn't exactly the greatest athlete. Wiggins might not have the same offensive game (at least at the moment anyway) but he seems to project as a plus defender. Embiid would be a project but could pay off ridiculous dividends in a few years with the proper coaching/development. Could be pretty sweet if the C's end up with him and bring KG back as a mentor to the kid. Now, that would be something.

Its a fantastic sounding top 4, and Randle seems to be losing buzz fir no good reason, so he might be you #4 pick

Good question.  I'm thinking it might be Lamarcus Aldridge.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

i agree to an extent but remember we've been in a lot of games and didn't lose by much, Rondo alone will make us better and help us win some of those games imo

well just have to see....

Wiggans also almost had a 20-20 game that night.

18 rbs is a ton for a wing.
Wiggins is playing really well, don't get all the talk that he has dropped off a lot.

TMac wasn't a super scorer going into the NBA either..

I don't care so much about the lack of height on ISU. It was Embiid's footwork and mobility that impressed me.

This is exactly right. You see the fluidity of movement and touch on his shots. I also like that his father was an athlete in a sport other than soccer (handball) and that Embiid the younger played volleyball growing up. If you only play soccer your upper-body coordination is not as developed. I think that differentiates him from some other African imports who may have just been tall and didn't possess the offensive potential Embiid does.

Anyway, it's all moot unless the Celtics win the lottery. Regardless of where they're positioned there is going to be some luck required.

Embiid footwork reminds me of an 18 years old Al Jefferson but Embiid is a legit 7 footer, more athletic and a better defender.  If anyone is interested, Kansas plays Oklahoma State today at 4pm.  Smart VS Wiggins / Embiid.  Wiggins has played really well the last few games....

I would totally shocked with Rondo back that we can possibly play worse than the Magic or Bucks

I'm for trading Green and Bass  away to assist the tank .....and AB too

I think the C's are a top 5 worst team with an injured and recovering Rondo.  I am with you on Bass and Green, get them out of here.  Especially Green, he stinks.  Good skill set with an average motor = Average NBA player.  Green is cashing those checks though, so all is good in his world...

Embid is heads and shoulders the best player in a game with Smart , Wiggins and Selden. It's not even close.
