LOW SEED FOR EMBIID
Well we currently have the 4th seed.
Rondo's return = not a top 5 pick by seasons end
I keep on seeing this in a lot of threads on CB. Even if Rondo comes back, the Celtics will still be lottery bound. They have difficulty scoring and they can't defend in the paint anymore. They just aren't a very well constructed team at the moment. Too many SG's and PF's. Legitimately ZERO centers and they truly lack a consistent go to scorer (Uncle Sleepy certainly isn't it).
And Rondo is coming back from a serious knee injury and will probably won't play a full workload for at least a few weeks. And even then, I don't think he'll be back to his normal self. Rose looked like crap earlier on in the year and he took the entire year off last year to get back to 100%. For a player whose game is predicated on speed/agility, Rondo might be affected more. We will see I guess.
Also, more moves are coming. Bass/Crawford/Green/Bradley are all possible candidates to be moved. Maybe not all, but certainly a couple of those guys will not be on this team in a few weeks.
So, unless Rondo grows about 8 inches and puts on 70 lbs and learns to score at an elite level and defend the paint, opposing bigs will continue to have a pants party against the Celtics down low and the they will continue to struggle to consistently score in games.
Just my 2 cents.
Re: Embiid
It would make for a very difficult decision if the C's somehow find themselves at the top of the lottery and get to pick from the "cream of the crop" of this draft. Embiid has tantalizing potential. He looks so fluid for a guy that is relatively new to the game. I wouldn't want to be in Danny's shoes if he had to choose between Parker/Embiid/Wiggins etc. I like Parker but I worry that at his size if he will ever be a good defender as he isn't exactly the greatest athlete. Wiggins might not have the same offensive game (at least at the moment anyway) but he seems to project as a plus defender. Embiid would be a project but could pay off ridiculous dividends in a few years with the proper coaching/development. Could be pretty sweet if the C's end up with him and bring KG back as a mentor to the kid. Now, that would be something.
