2) Wallace needs to lead by example, by performing on the floor.

If Wallace is performing as well as someone with his diminishing abilities is capable of performing, then that would be a good example.  Is he doing the best he can reasonably be expected to do or can he play better but just isn't trying hard enough?
After watching KG for five years, I don't think anyone is trying hard enough.

There is a world of difference between a respected bench player, (Bogans, Cassell, Dooling, PJ Brown), and a player playing poorly as the 6th man who's constantly calling out the team via the media.
Not to mention these call outs started in the preseason IIRC.
I definitely didn't say there wasn't did I?

I believe Roy's assertion was that a leader "needs to lead by example, by performing on the floor," and I think you agree, saying Wallace doesn't have enough "game" anymore to be a leader.

Bogans, Cassell, Dooling, Scals, etc, certainly didn't/don't perform on the floor so I'm not sure what your point is.

You said it yourself:

If your game doesn't back up your talk players aren't going to listen to you.

...but the guys you listed didn't have any game to back up their talk so how did anybody possibly listen to them?  (It's because, like you said, they were respected and that means way more than performance)
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

There is a difference in expectations when you're the 6th man on the team, if you're the all-star PG, and if you're the backup PG/SF/PF who averages 12 MPG when you don't get a DNP-CD.

If you're getting heavy minutes and trying to lead you need to perform.

Wallace is playing like a stiff, is scared to shoot, and feels the need to call out the rest of the team everytime things are tough. He's been doing it since the preseason. That's not leadership, that's whining of an unhappy player who thinks he's a leader.

They should suspend wallace a game or tell him to shut up. This doesnt help the team and neither does his playing ability.

I don't think Wallace is smart, heck I compared one of his quotes to AI.  But sorry if I also don't think how a player handles the media's questions is the determining factor in whether or not the player is considered a leader.  If our team considers Wallace or Keyon Dooling a leader who they willingly follow, then they are, no matter what you think.  How much or how well they play obviously doesn't matter.

There's a difference between guys who show leadership (which largely happens behind the scenes) and a great (or best) player on your team who has to lead, for us KG and then Rondo.  You seem to be under the impression that Wallace has to be the second type of leader which he simply is not.  That guy is supposed to be Jeff Green, he's the guy you should be criticizing about lack of leadership instead of whining about Wallace not being a better basketball player (which is out of his control).

Wallace is absolutely correct in his assessment that the team is "all talk". Along these lines, it's fair to point out he's doing the majority of the talking...

I would wager that Iverson and Wallace are both savvier in their regards to the media and the locker room than you might suspect.

Why is Jeff Green supposed to be the leader? Because he's the best player? That's not really how leadership works. I'd have to find it, but Jeff Van Gundy went on the record saying that Charles Oakley was the leadership on those Knicks teams he coached--You're not really going to say that it was "supposed" to be Patrick Ewing, are you?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Wallace needs to shoot more when he is open. Maybe drive to the hoop and draw contact a little more.

Until he stops playing hot potato with the basketball, he needs to simmer down.

(I do like his energy on defense at least)

suspend him until the end of the season for conduct detrimental to the organization.  I don't want his words sinking in.  Let these kids lose in peace.
