Gerald has blessed us with another rant (boy I missed those..lol). I actually don't mind this one.

http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2014/01/wallace_were_a_team_thats_all_talk.html?camp=twit:celtics&SREF=Optin&dlvrit=834396

Quote
"I'm very surprised. Right now, we're the team that's all talk," he said. "We talk about how we want to get better. We talk about things we need to do to get better. It's easy to go out and practice and do it. Practice doesn't really apply to anything with making yourself better. When they turn them lights on, when it really counts, when it's about the team and making the team better and trying to win as a team, we don't do it."

Quote
"Hey, Denver was doing everything the right way, so everything was going their way," Wallace said. "The way we played, the way we play as a team, the things that we do, we don't deserve to get the calls they got. They got them. Jared's first (flagrant) was 50-50 and the second one, I've seen that play done 50 times, that's my first time ever seen it called a flagrant foul. Everything was going their way, so why should get the benefit of the doubt? We're not playing worth a crap anyway."

Quote
"Like I said, guys gotta look in the mirror man. It's gotta be the individual. It's gotta be timeout for I and what I can do to help us win?" he said. "What can I do to help the team win? What can I come out on the court and provide to make our team better? Right now it's too much of 'I,' too many guys trying to do it on their own and in this league, that's hard to do."

Quote
When asked about Sullinger and his flagrant fouls, Wallace had nothing but support.

"Like I said, they had everything going, so it is what it is. I'm just happy to see somebody take a hard foul from our bigs," he said. "He's the only big that's willing to take a hard foul not to give up a layup. I'll take that all day. We get hammered going to the hole, we shouldn't allow the other team to just come in and lay it up and dunk on us. I applaud him for that.

Quote
We done met, we done talked, we done did everything, we done argued, fussed, complained, moaned, everything you can do," he said. "It doesn't matter in here. It matters out there on the court. And until we can take all the talk and everything that we say in here and apply it to out on the court, it's useless, it's basically like talking to the wall."

The part that I bolded did he pretty much call our bigs (besides Sully) soft in a sense..lol.

He's talking to you, Brandon Bass!

I agree with his points on sully. But I don't see where he addresses the mediocre talent on this team, including himself.

I feel bad for the guys on the team.  I believe that they are trying their best.  But they're simply not constructed to win.  I think this team is honestly playing as well as they can play.  13-22 is probably pretty close to the best the record could be at this point.

Yeah our solid play was so very tenuous. No margin for error at all, slight injuries and shooting slumps completely undue all of the effort put in.

That's why so many big leads would disappear, no real strength of talent to fall back on.

I think he's talking about all the bigs (he probably can exclude Hump), especially Kelly.

Love the Sully support. And loved how he was pleading the case to the official last night even when he was on the bench...However, where is Stevens in that situation? None the less glad Wallace was asking the questions.

I think Wallace has to be taking shots at mainly Crawford and Bass here, and possibly some of Green and Bradley as well. Which is fine. Crawford seems to be trying to do way too much on his own and its really killing our offense in a big way.

I love Wallace and I love the leadership he brings to the team. However, he looks completely disengaged and miserable out there 90% of the time. Since he is such a good character guy and locker room presence he is doing his job, mentoring, being a leader...But I bet he cant wait til his name comes up in a trade to be shipped out of town.

I think his point of emphasis should be: How can I not toss the ball into the 5th row.

What's the point in ranting about talent?  Players can't suddenly become more talented, but they might be able to play smarter or with more effort if someone prods them.

Which guys are playing as well as they are capable of and which guys can be better?

Still don't respect him at all... Gerald Wallace needs to stop crying to the media... I feel like his main incentive for him to keep crying is hopes some GM that is drunk or high off their horse, would consider trading for him, or putting him in a package deal...

You never call out your teammates like that. That is only under certain emergency circumstances... Calling out your teammates in a negative manner not only makes them look bad, but makes you look worse, because you think you're being a leader, but you're far from it.

A leader is someone who accepts the mistake, and says we need to work together. Why doesn't Gerald Wallace look at himself?

When has he ever exploded in a game besides the Bobcats one? Wallace is a one trick pony when it comes to the term 'veteran leader.' Do you seriously think GM will be savoring their mouths just to bring in your veteran presence Wallace? He constantly rips into his teammates, and its getting really exhausting now. Especially coming from one of the worst players, with the worst contract, and the worst veteran leader I've seen in a long time. Wallace should just be DNP-CD for the entire season, and banned from the facility. Honestly hes only here cause he has too much money to release, and no right team in their mind would want him.

There are many ways to motivate a team, and calling them out through to the media does work, but it isn't a good strategy when you constantly use it. Wallace needs to shut up, do his job, and stop complaining. No one is going to want your filthy contract, your unwillingness to be with a team, and your terrible play.

I'm hoping eventually someone calls Gerald Wallace out for playing like a 490K contract but being paid a 10 million dollar player.

Wallace can't shoot the ball to save his life......he needs to put the time in LEARNinG how to shoot a freaking basketball ...my grandmother is a better shot.

He and his awful contract are THE worst problem this team has.

Wallace is barely worth the Vet minimum

He IS the worst contract in the league ......what you get for what you pay

He needs to look in the mirror before he spouts off .

Leadership isn't whining to the media, Wallace has shown little signs of leadership. If anything the rants after every tough stretch reveal how little leadership he actually has.

If your game doesn't back up your talk players aren't going to listen to you. Wallace doesn't have that game anymore and given his statements to the media (which started IMMEDIATELY this season) the team doesn't care for what he has to say.

Yep, I agree.  The two things I was going to say were: 1) Wallace shouldn't be doing this through the media; and 2) Wallace needs to lead by example, by performing on the floor.

Don't see anything wrong with what he's saying here, and I have no problem with the things he mentioned here publicized through the media.
