“I just want to play,” Bogans said. “I want to play basketball. I want to get off the bench.”

“I had no idea that I would be in this position,” Bogans said. “[My expectations were] that I would play.”

“[I miss] everything,” Bogans said. “Everything. Imagine 11 years and just this. … It would not matter [how many minutes] as long as I was on the court playing. It wouldn’t matter. I’ve got more DNPs [this season] than I have in 10 years.”

Let's face the facts Keith, we all knew you came here to keep the bench warm for the real players.

This is what happens when you sign the big money salary ballast as part of a trade.

I'd rather hear this than hear, "Yeah, I'm fine parking my butt on the bench and collecting checks. Suckers."

I can understand him being frustrated, but he's handling it well and that's a good thing. He's at a stacked position so someone is going to be left out. It's a good thing that he's not content just getting a check, he's an athlete and he wants to play.

Agree. So does Brad Stevens.

People act as if hes getting paid rich and handsomely. Yes, he is. But he stated himself hes a role player, and even role players deserve some minutes. Unfortunately this is why I think Bradley, Crawford, Brooks, or Bogans may be packaged in a trade. I think if DA can pull off the Asik for Bass/Lee and 1st round pick trade I think that is a good deal.

We wouldn't need to worry about any Center unless drafting the BPA. We just have too many positions filled, and every one acts as if Bogans sucks. Bogan may suck, but in spare minutes he can defend and at least shoot the 3.

How can anyone enjoy basketball even though their getting paid, if they aren't even playing it?

Bogans is a true professional, so this is a testament to his patience and lengthy career.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen

I feel for him.

And Humphries, Brooks, Favarani, ect.

This roster is composed almost entirely of guys who deserve minutes and its just not going to happen obviously.

My favorite parts from the article:

Quote
Keith Bogans rang in the New Year by staying late after practice to put in extra work at the Boston Celtics facility. The last player left on the court, he pulled up for three-pointers from various points on the floor, knocked down free throws and refused to exit until he nailed a long jumper from the sidelines.

Quote
This season Bogans has shifted his contributions from the box score to the sidelines and locker room. He is one of the Celtics veteran go-to’s, available for advice or suggestions to his teammates. During games he sits next to the coaches and is vocal on the bench to cheer on his team and provide feedback.

This support and sportsmanship has not gone unnoticed. Stevens has been impressed by Bogans’ relationships and how he practices what he preaches about staying ready at all times.

Quote
Rookie Phil Pressey said he “couldn’t ask for a better teammate” and describes Bogans as someone who is constantly trying to help others. Even though they have vastly different levels of experience, they are able to relate on the importance of preparation. Bogans’ experiences have helped Pressey through the NBA learning curve.

“Some of the things I’m going through, he goes through,” said Pressey. “You know he wants to play. He’s been playing his whole career. He stays positive, always talking, and just always staying ready.”

As a competitor, he obviously wants to play.  Rather than sulk, though, he's putting in extra work and is being a good teammate.  I respect that.

Well Hump did make the most of his limited minutes and went from the end of the bench to our 6th man. I don't think Bogans made a single shot all year. Who would've thought Hump would be the best player in green out of the PP-KG trade?

Hump is probably playing the best out of EVERYONE involved in the BKN/BOS trade. I really feel for KG and PP right now.I especially don't want KG's career to end on this note.

Don't blame him. Bogans is still a pretty decent to solid backup SG/SF. He could be playing regular minutes somewhere else. Maybe Bogans and Ainge can reach a mutually beneficial buyout. Let Bogans find playing time elsewhere and Ainge can save some dollars.

The bottom line is that nobody wants to trade for an SG making $5 mil / 3 years averaging -3 PER.  He isn't better than Bradley, Lee or Crawford and pretty soon Rondo will eat even more into the guard minutes.  He should learn how to coach or something because otherwise at the end of this contract he'll be out of the league.

I read the article and got the picture that he was just answering questions about his playing time and gave the answer anyone who sit would give "Yeah, I want to play,"

The rest of the article described him as an exemplary team mate so I don't believe this was complaining, like Wallace was doing, but simply answering a question posed to him.

By the same token, he signed a contract he never would have received otherwise to facilitate a trade and should probably have expected for this to happen, all things considered. Its not like the Celtics wanted Bogans on the team. He was trade filler.
