Yeah, I'd be willing to give up a 1st round pick if it meant we could dump the contracts of Wallace and Lee.  Not interested in sending Bass, I think we can probably get an expiring contract and a 2nd round pick coming our way for Bass.

If the C's can somehow find a way to clear the contracts of Wallace, Bass & Lee we should have enough cap space to sign Melo (or another max FA).

Do it, Danny!

I would deal for Bynum in a heartbeat to help us contend....FOR THIS YEAR.

I think trading for him only to waive him is silly.

Winning should be more important than cap space.

I thought the goal was to win games and championships, not clear up cap space.

If that was the goal, then why don't we just trade the entire team?

This doesn't make a ton of sense to me. If the goal is to win games and championships, shouldn't Danny weigh the pros and cons both long-term and short-term on every move and do what is best for the franchise?

If that's the case, clearing cap space, holding pat, bottoming out, or just doing your best to get invited to the dance are all viable moves, depending on context.

Bynum is basically a 15 million dollar trade exception next year. I wouldn't cut him.

If they're ostensibly trying to deal him, shouldn't they be trying harder not to reveal that he HATES BASKETBALL? Or are all these stories out because they need to justify the decision to their fans? What a ridiculous franchise.

Everybody around the league knew he was a quitter but the Cavs just couldn't resist. Any respectable organization wouldn't have hired him in the first place, or at the very just sent him home much earlier. Instead they just let this 7-foot distraction infect 1/3 of their season.

#NBA sources now telling @FOXSportsOH teams not interested in Andrew Bynum and that #Cavs will release him before contract is guaranteed.

If Cavs waive Andrew Bynum by 5pm on Jan. 7, they'll only owe him $6 million for this season since the rest of his deal wasn't guaranteed.

I don't think they expect to trade him to anyone who wants to keep him for actual on-court contributions, at least in the long-term.

The beauty of Cleveland's gamble here is that they managed to sign him to a deal that is only $6 mil guaranteed here if he's waived before Jan 7th (and according to Faf, who knows these things, that's almost completely paid out already). They also have the ability to waive him in the offseason for no penalty.

So if a team had some contracts that were less than cap friendly, they could move those contracts to Cleveland (with a 1st round pick for the privilege), and then immediately waive Bynum effectively washing those contracts from their books.

So if a team like Boston wanted to make an impact next year in the FA market, they could move two guaranteed contracts (like say Wallace and Lee, although that's likely a pipe dream) for Bynum, and after waiving Bogans, they'd be roughly 12 million or so under the salary cap after holds and 1st round picks.

EDIT: I think my cap numbers are a bit off, because they factor in Bradley taking his QO and nothing more, and probably undervalues the holds for the draft picks, but you get the point.

Bynum target eying Boston as on of the places he wouldn't mind going according to Simmons Twitter...

Yup - he is saying that he wants to go to the Clippers or Miami.  Miami is the perfect fit for him...
why is Miami a good fit for him?

Because he could keep Oden company in the Miami knee ward

Me too, because Cleveland is over the cap right now, and because I don't think they want to take on any more long-term money with The Bron and others hitting FA next season.
