You have to excuse Tommy when he announces games because if it was up to him the C's never foul and their opponents foul on every shot which used to annoy me but now I just laugh and have fun with it.  but besides that, the guy knows what's going on. he knows exactly when Crawford or Bradley start walking that ball up court and slowing the game down and he also picks up on when they start taking too many outside shots and are not taking it to the paint. these are two big mistakes that Boston makes on too many occasions and why teams tend to take over the momentum of the game. now you can walk the ball up the floor and shoot from the outside all day long as long as you're averaging 65 to 70% shooting but most teams don't and you're going to get yourself in a problem eventually.

I'm glad someone mentioned this because it infuriates me even as a Celtics fan to hear him call games where the Celtics is ALWAYS the victim in fouls called or isn't

I always get hammered when I post this, but Tommy is an embarrassment as a color commentator and should have been put out to pasture several years ago. I give Gorman tons of credit for putting up with Tommy's ridiculous homerism.
I'm one of the few who agree with you.  Plus he knows nothing about the current NBA.  He doesn't know anything about players on other teams and he can't even pronounce half of their names(which doesn't really bother me).

Wow.  Just wow.
His opinion of players is based only on the 2 games the player plays against the Celtics and does not incorporate the 80 games the player plays against other teams.  And that player could be a 20% 3pt shooter, but if he nailed a couple in one game against the Celts Tommy thinks the guy is a great shooter.

By all means get league pass or move to watch opposing commentators cover the game. Not like they do anything different though  ::)

Tommy makes the games great. Just watching at a bar isn't the same.

The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

If you really believe what you just wrote, then my deduction is that you haven't been listening to what Tommy says anyway.  Because what you just wrote bears pretty much no relationship with reality.  So I'm not at all sure why you are bothered by someone who you don't even hear speaking.

Whatever.  You are always entitled to listen to the opposing announcers on league pass.  Enjoy.

I'll say this (getting back on topic), if KO learns Tommy's hook shot and gets it off as easily and reliably as Tommy, he'll score quite a lot of points.

BRING BACK THE 18' HOOK SHOT OFF THE GLASS!!!

and yes NBA league pass is a GODSEND for me here in south Louisiana. It is the only way I can see the boys unless they are on TNT,ABC, etc,

Pelicans guy just called me trying to sell some individual games since I am a saints season ticket holder. I think I will try to go watch the C's and pels like i did last year. Let's see what kind of deal he can make me. I doubt i can get seats 5 or 6 rows behind Boston's bench though like I did last year.  :(

That really doesn't separate him from the crowd. His take on opposing players (like how to defend them or how well they defend or the like) isn't much worse than anyone else you hear.

The downside of having NBA League Pass, as a Celtic fan, living in L.A.
when the Celtics play either the Lakers or Clippers the games are blacked out on League Pass and you are forced into watching the games on their local networks. let me tell you the last thing you want to hear are the Laker announcers, you would think they are announcing games back when Magic Johnson played and it's "Showtime" all over again. the Lakers could be getting crushed and they will find that ONE good play they made all game and that's all you will see over and over whenever they can fit it in.

Good to hear. I hope Kelly can become a prime Luis Scola-type player soon.

I am not sure why some people dont think that a guy with HOF player credentials and an exceptional coaching record doesnt know enough about basketball to accurately evaluate a player on the court.

Tommy has been involved as a player, coach, announcer or something with Basketball for longer than most of us have been alive. I love the guy and it will be a sad, sad day when he is no longer able to tell people what it is like and what it means to be a Celtic.

I think Kelly Olynyk is really going to benefit from Tommy's help. I hope Tommy continues to work with him and any other young Celtic player who is willing.
