You have to excuse Tommy when he announces games because if it was up to him the C's never foul and their opponents foul on every shot which used to annoy me but now I just laugh and have fun with it.  but besides that, the guy knows what's going on. he knows exactly when Crawford or Bradley start walking that ball up court and slowing the game down and he also picks up on when they start taking too many outside shots and are not taking it to the paint. these are two big mistakes that Boston makes on too many occasions and why teams tend to take over the momentum of the game. now you can walk the ball up the floor and shoot from the outside all day long as long as you're averaging 65 to 70% shooting but most teams don't and you're going to get yourself in a problem eventually.

I'm glad someone mentioned this because it infuriates me even as a Celtics fan to hear him call games where the Celtics is ALWAYS the victim in fouls called or isn't

I understand. But I still love tommy and his homerism. It is almost like WWF sometimes they way he goes at it.

Mostly, I just love the way he loves the celtics...no shame, no reserve, no quibbles. He simply is a Celtic through and through. I hope he stays around for many more years.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I always get hammered when I post this, but Tommy is an embarrassment as a color commentator and should have been put out to pasture several years ago. I give Gorman tons of credit for putting up with Tommy's ridiculous homerism.

I live in the midwest and watch the Celtics on the NBA League Pass.  If the game is in Boston I get Tommy and Mike, but if it is an away game i get the other teams' announcers.  Tommy and Mike are far better than most other announcers.  Most color announcers  are horrible.  Half of them don't understand the game and speak English at an elementary kid level.  And don't be fooled, Tommy is not the only announcer who is a homer for his team.  I enjoy listening to Tommy and especially Milke!

After watching other teams' announcers on NBATV and from seeing the Mavs' broadcast team quite a bit, Mike is simply the best in the business, and Tommy, homerism and all, is better than most, if only for having good timing so that it's not painful to listen to all that dead space in a broadcast.

I'm one of the few who agree with you.  Plus he knows nothing about the current NBA.  He doesn't know anything about players on other teams and he can't even pronounce half of their names(which doesn't really bother me).

The Celtics are special because of people like Tommy.  This is not TNT.  It is obvious he is very loyal and prideful of the Celtics. He tells the players what it means to be a Celtic.  I love watching the games and hearing Gorman and Tommy.

His opinion of players is based only on the 2 games the player plays against the Celtics and does not incorporate the 80 games the player plays against other teams.  And that player could be a 20% 3pt shooter, but if he nailed a couple in one game against the Celts Tommy thinks the guy is a great shooter.
