On the '14 pick vs. '15 pick -- a little bit of bad injury luck and the Celtics could easily be a lottery team even with Asik.

Bad idea to trade away our pick for this  year when it's still December.

This team gets better each week and is a lot of fun to watch.
I don't find it (that much) fun to watch a team that's clearly held back by subpar rebounding and inferior inside defense, but that's just me.

It's a good trade.

It's a fantastic trade.  We haven't had a rebounder like him in a long long time.

People are fretting over 2 players they were throwing to the wolves in the offseason, & 2 of the worst contracts on the team.  We have 9 first round picks in the next 5 years, & we can't afford to lose 1 all of a sudden ?

Bass is in the starting lineup. Humbug.

Good call by Ainge. Bass is the better player in the rumored trade, and gets to show it against one of the most talented frontcourts in the NBA.

Bass playing like he doesn't want to get traded, it seems.

It might not be too bad to offer them the worse of the two picks.

Not for nothing, but this is why draft picks are fairly valuable. The chance that the pick will be better than expected.

Some people are concerned about Asik's poor offensive game, but Boston won a title (almost two) with a center who was great defensively and could barely get off the ground on offense.

I like the possibilities Asik brings:

*gives Boston a legit defensive C
*allows Sully and KO to spend most of their time at the 4, where they belong, and also allows them more minutes, which is great for their development
*clears room at the 2, allowing more minutes for Crawford after Rondo's return

Perk comparison is good. But we don't have Allen/Pierce/KG to make up for Asik's lack of offense. He's worse than healthy Perk on the offensive side, although he's better on D.

Good call on roster balance, too. What I don't like is we're giving a better player in Bass, and a pick. If Houston includes Motiejunas, I'm ok with the trade.

No @AsikOmer trade tonight, leaving Rockets to get a deal done by Thursday to be able to re-route any players acquired by trade deadline.

Do you guys think Asik would even want to be here? Will he sulk and complain if Vitor's playing good and Steven's rides him down the stretch of a game?

He's not a diva, he just didn't want to ride the bench in his prime after signing with a team that had told him he was going to start and then went out and got one of the top 3 centers in the league.

if he comes to Boston, Asik will probably start, but I doubt he finishes games. Remember Perk.

I would expect a frontcourt of Olynyk, Sullinger, and Green to finish games, but who knows, Doc is not the coach anymore

Yeah I agree here, I think he just wants to play. And he's easily talented enough to do so.
